JR.. I heard about that jury member! I thought you aren't even supposed to KNOW the accused.

I think she was guilty and I don't feel sorry for her at all. She won't get jailtime.
If you go through a lot of hammers each month, I don't think it necessarily means you're a hard worker.
It may just mean that you have a lot to learn about proper hammer maintenance.

actually, the standard for jurors is: have you already formed an opinion about this case or can you be objective and decide the case based on the evidence and testimony presented at trial. It's sketchy to be not biased about someone that you know, which is why people who know the defendant, victim, etc. are usually excused from the jury. As for knowledge of the event and whether judgments have been formed, that's why it was so hard to find a jury for OJ's murder trial. And what a super jury they picked . . . :rolleyes

Back to Winona, what a loser, she's a klepto, did you know she's named after a city in Minnesota?

At times I'm one of those naive people who think that actors are just like the characters they portray in movies. Ever since I saw The Crucible, I've thought of Winona Ryder as a scheming little, dare I say it, witch, who stirs up a lot of trouble and tries to look all innocent about it!

I wanna hear about Winona hammering out license plates in the state pen. That would be frickin' hilarious.

    Actually,

I have been wondering for a long time what kind of idiot here lawyer is for allowing this to go to trial (at a reported cost to her by the way of $250,000!).

They had her on the video tape committing the crime, and they had eyewitness testimony. Further, she confessed to the crime to a store security cop, but according to thesmokinggun.com that evidence was supressed.

She was going to be guilty, she should have pled to a misdemeanor.

I think they should have her face on an ad in the dressing rooms with the usual "Shoplifters will be presecuted to the full extent of the law" and "You might not be as lucky as Miss Ryder when you are caught". That and paying for the merchandise would be enough for me.

    Feifer, that would be great!

I don't feel sorry for her in the slightest either. I'm just happy she didn't get away with it.

I hear that if her acting career falls apart she's going to become a "personal shopper".
