I think there is something to that Wayner.

I am afflicted with the same problem it sounds like you had, that being a nice guy. It just killed me socially in my twenties.

You know how it goes, you have many women who turn to you for support when the bad boy goes especially bad, and you talk and listen and support. Then, once they get feeling good about themselves again, *poof* their gone, and 9 times out of 10 they go back to the bad boy.

I have found recently though that my nice calm demeanor, focus on things that matter long term, and minor success is now suddenly attractive, whereas in my younger days, it was considered boring...

One of the girls that I went to beauty school with had a terrible break-up with her boyfriend and she went to his place of work and poured a bag of sugar in his gas tank of his new truck. Also she keyed the drivers side of the truck and stabbed the tires. This was not a girl you wanted to mess with.
