That is my dad's favorite toast. I have heard it all my life.Originally posted by Wayner

Our family toast is "may you be in heaven an hour before the devil knows you're dead".
(Has to be said in a very strong Irish accent)
That was my grandad's favourite.
"That's Numberwang!"
Good one, Fluff. I've heard that before but could not recall the wording.
"Here's to those that love us,
And here's to those that don't,
A smile for those who are willing to,
And a tear for those who won't."
Here's the toast from "Four Weddings and a Funeral"
I am sorry to drag you from your delicious dessert but there are one or two little things I feel I should say as best man. This is only the second time I’ve been a best man. I hope I did the job all right. At least the couple in question are still talking to me. They are not actually talking to each other. The divorce came through a couple of months ago. But I’m sure it had absolutely nothing to do with me. Apparently Paula knew that Peter had slept with her younger sister before I mentioned it in my speech. The fact that he slept with her mother came as a surprise. But I think it was incidental to the nightmare of recrimination and violence that became their two-day marriage.
But my job today is to talk about Angus and there are no skeletons in his cupboard.
I am ever in bewildered awe of anyone who makes this kind of commitment that (they) have made today. I know I couldn’t do it.
There was a great toast in My Best Friend's Wedding.
Also funny in The Wedding Planner when J Lo was feeding the best man his toast through an earpiece.
Fluff, you sound like you have a great family!
Here's one I like:
"May thy life be long and happy,
Thy cares and sorrows few;
And the many friends around thee
Prove faithful, fond and true."
I don't think any of us could ask for anything more than that.
Another wedding one:
"Here's to matrimony...
The high sea for which no compass has yet been invented."
Wayner, that's a really sweet one. I like that!
Yeah, but how many points is it worth?Wayner, that's a really sweet one. I like that!![]()
