:laugh A kindred spirit!
That would make me happy... lucky. Simple pleasures today? Realizing how blessed I am with my little home, my secure job, my children doing well, my pets all happy. It doesn't take much.
What a great topic! :)
First, let me get this off my chest: as of May 9, the health of my child(ren) is Number One...never, ever want to go through that again.
Now, thinking pre-May 9 and soon-to-be-later, the simple things that make me happy include:
-- a baby's laugh
-- the bright-eyed, tail-wagging unconditional love of your dog
-- the trusting purr and lip rub granted you by your cat (in a moment of grace - by the cat)
-- watching ANY baby...human or animal... at play and exploring the world
-- the smell of laundry off the clothes line
-- the first day of putting up Christmas decorations
-- the first snowfall of the season
-- the first burst of flowers of the season
-- that first day when the leaves are at their peak, half on the ground, and it rains...smells so good, curling up on the couch with a book and a throw
-- lying by the pool, listening to my favorite radio station, nowhere to go
-- slipping into bed after the bedding has all been washed
-- looking through my babies' photo albums
-- bringing in the first fresh vegetables from the garden, how it makes the kitchen smell fresh
-- summer nights and lightning bugs
-- Christmas morning with little children in the house
-- the porch swing and a glass of lemonade
...gotta stop there, WOW...I didn't realize just how many simple things there are to make me happy! Thanks :)
The fact that today, on a very busy street, traffic automatically and politely stopped to allow two Canada geese (well, one goose and one gander, I assume) escort their flock of goslings across the road.
And there were a lot of goslings; it must have been one enormous nest to hold that many eggs. Very cute to watch the goose parade with one adult at the front and one at the rear and all the goslings in a line between them.
People stopping their cars to let a person cross a multiple lane road, safely, when it's busy. A lot of times, I start it because I never could stand the feeling of trying to get across and not being able to, as a kid.
