| Re: What simple things make you happy? Being told that I've been "observed" and they like what they see a LOT and would I do customer service training for the staff that's been there longer than I have!!!! Well, maybe that's not a simple pleasure as it means a LOT to me. ![]()

| Re: What simple things make you happy? I've got one now I'm trying to decide whom to give it to... my next door neighbor who does so much for me, or a woman I work with whose mom is really sick. I'm making tentative plans to buy a George Foreman grill on Tuesday from Tuesday Morning. You know I'm happiest when I get a new gadget!

| Re: What simple things make you happy? Giving someone else a simple pleasure of human contact. I had to work this afternoon and I had several phone calls I needed to make. I was in the zone calling and delivering the info I had to give and not chatting when one of my phone calls was answered by a man who ended up telling me he was housebound. It was so obvious he was lonely, so instead of giving the info and hanging up, I ended up talking (listening really) to him reminense (spelling?) for about 10-15 min. It put me behind, but he was so grateful to have someone to talk to and told me how nice it was chatting with me, that I was glad I had taken the time to talk to him.

| Re: What simple things make you happy? MRD, I am with you on this! I spend my day multi-tasking and never have enough time to get my work done adequately. I work with kids and what I have learned is that it is important to take more time with individual students and learn about what they are interested in or what they need. When I started practicing this on a daily basis (instead of always zooming around), my job became much more fulfilling. And I think that the kids know that I value them. My simple pleasure for the day - my closet is organized! And I have a box of items ready to give away. Getting ready for work will be a much easier task. |
