    Dating Faux Pas

    Hello All

I have an interesting question for everyone who currently hits the dating scene, or remembers single life B.M. (before marriage): What are your deal breakers when it comes to dating?

    Some of mine are:
-Self-centeredness: you know, the ones who talk about themselves all the time and never let you get a word in edgewise…. Those “It’s all about me” types
    -Workaholics
    -Mama’s boys
-Bad hygiene (especially where it counts)
    -Whiney Men
-Men who smother, Way. Too. Much.
-And My Number One Deal Breaker: a man who is cheap… there is nothing worse than a guy who nickels and dimes. Being frugal is one thing, but when it starts to border selfishness and greed, the relationship stops!

    What are yours?

    Deal breakers for me B.M.

    - talking on the cell phone while we're talking
    - someone who hates kids
    - bad breath
    - agressive drivers
    - someone really into cars more than me
    - someone who just sits around watching tv
    - someone who doesn't like music
    - someone who is wishy washy
    - someone who gives into me

that's all I can think of right now. I'm sure there are more, but I'm someone who falls in love easily. There aren't many HUGE deal breakers. I'm usually pretty forgiving.

I've dated indecisive men. It drives me bonkers. That, and someone who says "we'll do whatever you want to do honey". No! Argue with me, damnit!

This goes for both sides. I have several friends of both genders that are guilty of these things, as well as my own personal turnoffs.

    -overly jealous/possessive
    -desperate
    -talking about an ex, excessively
-moving too fast (talking marriage/kids by 2nd date)
-one sided relationships (one person does all the giving, the other gives all the taking)
    -unwilling to open up
    -controlling behaviour

I could go on and on, but this is getting depressing.

    Dirty Elbows

It's funny, men are much more observant than I give them credit.

    Hmmm, for me...

    - materialism, anytime a girl is more into what she's wearing, driving, or owns than me. I can live without that.

    - I'm big on a lot of personality traits. Honesty, someone who isn't overly jealous, passionate, laziness, humorous. If a girl I am dating fails in any of those regards, it's time to move on.

    - takes the initiative to do things in the relationship. I love being romantic, doing special things, but it cuts both ways. If I'm the only one ever doing anything, the relationship loses some of it's appeal.

That's about it. I'm not terribly irritated by much. As long as the person can be themselves, laugh, enjoy life, enjoy being with me and doing different things, works hard at whatever they do, I'll be happy.
I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star in somebody else's eyes... but why... why... why can't it be me?

    - wandering eyes
-'does this" or "do I" questions.
    -talking about work.
    -first date jitters-BE YOURSELF!
-Dates who frown upon what the other orders.

There also needs to be a balance between ambition and knowing when to relax. There is nothing worse than being with a guy who has no direction in life and not a care in the world. But, on the same note, I hate men who live in their office. I appreciate spontanaeity and living life to the fullest.
