Thanks queenb and unexplained I thought it's time for me to share something, I always feel a little quilty just reading and looking at everyone else's work (I have enjoyed it all very much), but not sharing anything of my own. (It feels a bit like peeking into someone else's mind.)
ps. This is just my opinion in the matter.

    Just a little something...

I wrote this poem a few years ago...

    Just Like You

    Too many nights
    Too many tears
    I've got to move on
    Find myself again
    I tried so hard
    But every time
    You'd come into mind
And it would all start again
I think the time has come
    For me to move away
Give us some space for a while
    While I try so hard
    To get over you
    I think it's time
    For me to say
    I'm finally moving on
    Hope you're still alive
    The slumber in my heart
    Can only be stopped
    By somebody Just Like You
    Where will I ever find
    Someone who is going to
Make me feel all these things
    I once felt for you
    I don't think I'll ever find someone
    Just Like You
    For now I wait
    So impatiently
    For my knight
    On his stallion
    To take the slumber away
    How have you been
    Now that you're here
    Is that slumber awoken
    By her
    She is so perfect
    But you can't see
    The rain falling down
    I've been waiting
    For my perfect ever after
    But now it seems
    It can't happen
    Without someone
    Just Like You

Here's a portrait I drew of my 5-year-old grandson. Not my greatest piece, but definitely my favorite subject ~

Awwww, he's a cutie. Great work, BobbieJo! It's hard to tell because it's small, but is that a pencil or charcoal drawing?

    It's pencil.

Yeah, it 's hard to see the detail with it being so small . He's my main man, though.

In honor of the Fourth, here is a sappy little poem I wrote.

If, for a moment, we stop to consider
    The meaning of “Freedom,”
A powerful word, taken for granted,
Thrown about when it suits a purpose.
    What does it truly mean?
To me, it means that my children can be
    What they dream to be
That they can worship, or vote,
    Or speak out against injustice.
It means that I want them to know
    Why it is they stand
Whenever “The Star Spangled Banner” is heard.
It means that I hope forever they will remember
    The night we lit candles
    And prayed
    And sang “God Bless America”
For thousands of people we had never met.
It means I hope they will remember forever
Why I rushed to school that day
    Just to hold them
And be thankful they were alive.
That someday they will understand my need to hold
Their precious life in my arms
When so many had been lost.
It means I hope my daughter
    Never loses the fire
When she wanted to organize a protest against the removal
Of “Under God” from our pledge—
When she was all of six years old.
It means I hope they will always remember why
I wear that “I voted” sticker with such pride.
It means that I hope I have taught them well
And they will never use the word “freedom” loosely…
That they will always remember why
    It means so much.
