    Cheeseburger in Paradise

With grilling season upon us, I thought it would be fun to share our secrets to the perfect burger.

So...what is it that makes the ultimate burger for you?

Is it something you put in/on them before you grill?
Or is is simply the condiments you put on them after they are done?

My ultimate burger has nothing in it prior to grilling except pepper.

On the burger, I'm pretty "standard". Gotta have the cheese (American, Cheddar, or Swiss in that order of preference), ketchup, mustard, onion, lettuce. And the bun has to be toasted on the grill.

    That's my paradise.

Lately, I've been doing them this way:

1/4 cup onion, diced very small
    1 clove garlic, minced
    2 TB A1 sauce
    1 pound hamburger

Mix together, make 3 patties, grill to perfection...

Excellent with a slice of tomato, some fresh lettuce, dijon mustard, and Heinz ketchup.

Try mixing a little Spike seasoning into the meat. (It's really great seasoning, a chef friend of mine puts it on ALL meats, it's very tasty on beef)

Great Thread, BF--Its totally making me hungry for a burger!

My main requirement is NO PREMADE PATTIES. Whenever I make burgers, I make them all by hand myself from fresh ground beef from the store. And not the lowfat stuff either. Its gotta have some good fat content, otherwise, it tastes like cowpie.

Other than that, however I feel that day, and whatever spices are available, I add whatever to make it taste good. Then I grill it, and top it only with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, pickle, and whatever condiments are available. If I have a cheeseburger, I usually like muenster, or cheddar. I dont really like American all that much. I like to try different cheeses just to keep it interesting.

If you have ever been to Fuddruckers--that is the place for burgers!

O/T--what is with all of the references to Ducky/Paul/Hockey in/under everyones avatar's lately? PM me and let me in on the secret!

    Thanks!

    Oh yeah, definitely cheeeeese.

I haven't tried that Montreal Steak Seasoning, but I was just looking at it in the store.

I did buy another packet of black pepper marinade - that stuff is awesome on steaks.

I put Lawry's seasoned salt on almost everything I grill - it adds nice flavor. I usually use a little fresh-ground pepper, too.
