    I was in classes with a girl who was put en pointe when she was maybe 5 or 6 at the most. WAY too young. Your bones and muscles just aren't ready yet. I'll always remember how when she was en relevé, her knees never straightened all the way. Even as a pretty young kid, I felt sorry for her and I still wonder how that damage affects her an adult.

    My ballet school didn't allow pointe before age 12! But, by the time I was 14 I had given up on the prima ballerina expectations.

    I was 12 when they allowed it..the shoes now are so different. I love looking at them, and touching them ( sigh)
