Me too. BIG TIME. Then puberty hit with a vengeance about a year later. I got boobs and hips and grew 3 inches (from 5'6", which is acceptable for a ballet dancer) and that was the end of that. Maybe in my next life. I found a pair of my old pointe shoes in my closet a few days ago. I just can't get rid of them.

I also probably wanted to be Mrs. Rick Springfield

Can you still get en pointe now? Or do you lose that if you don't use that skill?

Honestly, I haven't even tried. It would probably hurt like hell now. Back then, it never did because all of the muscles in my ankles, feet and calves were so strong that they supported me. I used to walk around on the toes of my Vans all the time. Now it would feel like DEAD WEIGHT on my toes, even though I do work out. I don't even know if those old pointe shoes would fit. I'm so anti-restrictive shoes now. I'm sure my feet have "spread." I keep talking about going back and taking ballet classes again (there's a studio in my city that teaches adult classes). One of these days....

I started class at age 6 and they wouldn't allow anyone en pointe until 8 years or older. Even though I chafed at that, I can see now that the muscles were still too unformed and needed discipline to reach that.
