We had a bit of snow
The day was overcast
I went out anyway
And probably drove too fast.
I met my good friend
We had some lunch
Then went to a movie
Which I enjoyed a bunch.

And probably drove too fast.

I know you'll think
it's really weird
but I think a rhyme
has disappeared.
I could have sworn
I posted one
can't find it now
and that's no fun.
Perhaps I might have
made a mistake
and hit the wrong key
I'm such a flake.
So if you find
a rhyme that's lost
please send it home
at any cost.
The reward that's offered
though you may not covet
is another rhyme
and you may not love it !

It's time to think
Of flowers and candy
To make Valentine's Day
A holiday that's dandy
Easter comes but once a year,
time for little ones to cheer
as chocolate bunnies lose an ear.
Cuter little peeps
all pink and yellow
residing next to that rabbit fellow.
All in a bed of Easter grass.
How's that for some Easter class?
I wrote this poem 3 years ago on the occasion of our silver wedding anniversary.
It was twenty-five years ago on
A rainy Sunday afternoon
When friends and family gathered
To witness the marriage of a certain bride and groom.
As the wedding processional began
Father and bride walked down the aisle
Camera bulbs flashed as
They captured their smiles.
Prayers were read, vows exchanged, and hymns were sung
The priest said “You may kiss your bride. The marriage has begun.”
After the mass the well-wishers gathered outside
Waiting patiently to throw confetti at the groom and bride.
Into the limo and off to the reception.
Butterflies in my stomach akin to indigestion.
Guests mingled with food and drink as a pianist played
During the cocktail hour the bridal party stayed
In the bridal room until they were called
By the maitre’d into the reception hall.
Time for the first dance as the band began to play
“You’re My Everything” was our song as I recall to this day.
No sense of rhythm does my beloved possess
We held onto each other tightly and did our best.
Toasts were made and glasses raised in good cheer.
The best man gave his speech amid shouts of “Here, here!”
Good food, good drink was had by all.
Everyone seemed to be having a ball.
The Electric Slide, the Chicken dance, and the tarantella
Now some slow dances for the bride and her fella.
The cake is cut, a dance with dad, and a toss of the bouquet
The reception is now over. The guests have all gone away.
Yes, it’s been twenty-five years since we started our life.
Wonderful memories, two great sons--I’m so happy and proud to be your wife.
Eastcoastmon, your wedding was a wonderful day!
I hope good fortune continues to come your way.
Have a glass of wine
and a long sweet kiss
to celebrate 28 years
of marital bliss.
Happy Anniversary!
ECM, you got me all misty-eyed. Your poem was written from your heart, and that made it even more beautiful.
I expected to see
a single word for me
I'd put it to rhyme
be it "fig" or "sublime"
it was quite nice, however
to read your poetic endeavor,
as well as the others above
poetry fits y'all like a glove!!
