No, I was so glad when high school was over. It felt like prison.

Did you put your hair in a pony tail today?

Yes, it's still up in one.

Did you spend time outside today?

I went out twice, but only to get to the car and go somewhere.

Did you cook a big supper tonight?

No, just turkey and provalone sandwiches. Delicious, by the way.

Did you come up with a fantastic new idea today?

Yes, I decided to call the local community college to see when my 15-year-old can get started there ... I learned he'll have to wait until Spring because he turns 16 after the fall semester begins. But there are some things we can do now to get his ducks in a row.

Did you get a good education?

I did - I went to a fantastic private liberal arts college (nearly impossible to find here in Utah) - and I loved every second of it. I'd go forever if it were feasible.

Did you have positive educational experiences you'd like to share with your kids?

No. I went to public school and didn't like it. My kids are getting their education in a completely different way than I did (we're homeschooling, and they have freedom to pursue their interests). When I went to college, I didn't have a career in mind, and I graduated with a degree that wasn't very useful in terms of getting a good job. I'll encourage my kids to go to college to get the skills they need to have a career.

Did you want to be a teacher when you were growing up?

No, I don't have the patience to be a teacher. I do think it's a good idea for kids to wait a couple of years after high school before deciding on a career - I didn't find my dream career until I was about 28.

What skills would you like your kids to obtain to be more successful?

All of my kids are very different and need to learn different things. I taught them to follow their dreams and not let anything stop them, especially excuses. If they want it, they need to get up and go get it. I taught/teach them a lot of things I was never taught as a child that I wish I learned.

Did you learn how to manage money when you were growing up?

    Re: Did you .... ?

When I originally asked the question I was headed the same direction - I always told my kids they could do anything and I would support them to best of my ability - but I made them promise to learn to type. Just in case. Otherwise, I just let them follow their own paths - and they've done a darn good job at it. And like you, I wish that was the way I learned, too.

I did not learn any money management skills as a kid - and my mom was a banker for 20 years!

Did you decorate your house room by room, or as a whole?
