No, my oldest lives about 4 hours away and can only come for one holiday at this time of the year. So we won't see her until Christmas.

Yes. I've never made a pumpkin pie before (or pie crust!) so that will be an experience. I just bought my first rolling pin for the stupid thing (which cost the same as a store pie would have).

My ex in-laws are great! I was never really able to communicate with them much as they spoke little English but they've been there for the kids when my own family hasn't been.
