My kids are grown and gone - one has finished college and I don't think the other has plans to start yet.

    Are your siblings nearby?

All three live 3 1/2 to 4 hours away.

    Are your holidays stressful?

The last couple have been (losing my mom and other family issues), but I think we are moving forward in a positive direction.

I'm sorry about your loss, J.D.

I have one little aloe plant, and for the moment it's doing okay.

Thanks - I miss my mom, but we had some awesome times together. No regrets.

We have a landscaper do our hedges, but I do my own roses, and they could use a trim right about now. Plus I think I might have aphyds. Yuck.

Are you in charge of caring for the outside of your home?

No, my 15-year-old mows the grass, and my husband does hedge trimming, pressure washing, and the like.

Are your outdoor tools (rakes, shovels, etc) in good condition?

I'm really sorry to hear about your loss, JD. I know how hard that is and I feel for you. I think one of the hardest things was picking up the phone to call and realizing she wasn't there.

rgw, my DD is starting college this fall. The one up from her is a grad student and so is his wife. The oldest already finished his BS degree, but isn't using it. lol

We don't have any outdoor tools. We have a service take care of our yards and snow removal. My boys used to do it, but they are grown and on their own. The youngest took the outdoor tools with him. lol

Re: Is your ... or Are your ... ?

Thanks Romantic. I was right there with my mom, literally holding her hand when she passed. And it was not at all as horrible and ugly as I had feared. It was so peaceful, and just knowing she's with my dad now - it's comforting.

Romantic, I didn't realize you have kids that old - I pictured you as a youngster! How many do you have?

The one thing in my house that isn't a mess is my coat closet!

Re: Is your ... or Are your ... ?

I think my neighbors are baffled by me. I bought the condo my mom lived in for 25 years, so everyone knew her well - and I'm nothing like her - so I'm not sure.

    Is your refrigerator full?
