    Pet Peeves

Ok, we all have them, things that make us cringe, shake our heads, or just really tick us off. What are your pet peeves?

One of my all time pet peeves is when people spell the words "a lot" wrong. I guess I should explain, although explanations are not necessary in this thread.
I picked this peeve up from my Journalism teacher, it just drove her crazy and since we heard about it all the time, it really sticks out like a sore thumb to me.
    Incorrect spellings of "a lot":
Allot- which means to distribute, or to assign a share or portion.
Alot- there is no such word.

Ok, I'm jumping on the spelling/grammatical error band wagon:

It bugs me when people write "should of" or "would of" instead of "should have" or "would have"

    Re: Pet Peeves

I have so many! I think I'm just one of those naturally cranky people, heh, nobody has ever accused me of being too perky.

1: Slow drivers in the passing lane (get the heck out of my way!)

2: Tail gaters (if I'm in the right lane? Don't think you are going to get me to go faster just because you got on my bumper, that's what the left lane is for)

3: Poor customer service (this should actually be higher but right now I'm feeling the driving annoyance more).

4: Wait staff that are rude or ignore you till they bring that check and then suddenly its all smiles and love. Whatever, 5 seconds of attention doesn't equal a tip in my book and I'm generally a rather generous tipper.

5: My child is (insert whatever) better than yours. Why do parents feel the need to brag so much? I catch myself doing it too and have to give myself a mental smack to stop it.

6: College students who drone on and on and on about how smart and self-important they are because they are in college. Like nobody else has ever done that before *rolls eyes*. I have two Bachelors and I just pray that I was never that awful.

I will never say anything about any body's grammar because once upon a time when I was in college and thought I was oh-so-smart I laughed at somebody while chatting and ended up with a red face when it was brought to my attention that I misspelled grammar. OOPS! Heh, cured me of that college arrogance.

People using "your" when what they mean is "you're".

Also, confusion between "its" and "it's".

    Tickety, your wonderful...
Isn't it funny how those little things can just bug the heck out of you.

People who won't let you finish a sentence. Yep, I know someone who does this all the time. Ugh to her!

A pet peeve of mine is people who will not put their dogs on leashes. People who don't care if their cats, rabbits, chickens (yes, chickens) wander onto a busy street, facing certain doom. People who don't spay/nueter their pets. People who ignore their pets, as if they're house plants.

Also, able-bodied people who refuse to give up their seat to an elderly person. I want to go all Ruth Buzzi on them and whack them on the head with my purse, but I wouldn't dare, because another pet peeve of mine is people who carry guns.

It all stems from people not pronouncing the word correctly.
"You're" rhymes with pure, not shore.

I've noticed many people posting "rediculous".
    Again stems from mis-pronounciation.

So many people use "loose" when they mean someone has lost something too.
    It's irritating.
