    I'm sure all you southerners know how hushpuppies got their name (the food, not the shoes). Years ago the good old boys would take their dogs fishing with them. At the end of the day when they were cooking up the fish on the creek banks the dogs would commence to howling 'cause they were hungry smelling the fish frying. The good old boys would make little dough balls out of the batter,fry them up, throw them to the dogs and holler "Hush, puppies." And that'ts how hushpuppies got named.

    yes, evidently hushpuppies are a southern thing. Those Yankees don't know what they're missing.
    Jewels, hushpuppies are just bread. Made perfectly, they've got some onions in them and are fried in the fish oil. (at least, that's how my mama made them).

    ahhhh I probably wouldnt eat them then, I cant stand fish or seafood of any sort


    ETA not even just the taste of it that would be present in the fish oil
