I'm positive I'm wrong, eldee, but I'll take a wild, wild, really wild, guess. Reservoir Dogs?

Very good guess but, no. Thanks for guessing.

One of the characters was unsuccessful in borrowing money to cover up for money he stole from a client.

One young girl failed to blackmail her teacher.

One girl wants to be an actress.

One woman was going to meet a blind date and unknowingly, ended up with the obscene caller.

Any guesses? Should I pick a new one?

    I'll pick a new one.

A girl is given into marriage to a man who abuses her for many years in a society where she doesn't have rights. She is reunited with her blood family in the end.

    The Color Purple?

    If that's right:

A childless odd couple kidnap a baby from a couple who have "too many to handle". All sorts of crazy things happen to them and they decide to give the baby back at the end.

    If it's not, carry on.

(It's actually not The Sum of All Fears, it's Broken Arrow, which is just as bad.)

    Carry on...

Zhora, thanks for the correction. I didn't guess correctly so, it's your next clue.

    Hmmm...OK.

In WWII Burma, British officers in a prisoner of war camp are forced into heavy labor building a railway bridge for the Japanese, only to later see it blown up.
