    Re: The song theme game.

My original intention was indeed that the name had to be in the title. Nicknames seem to be more common that actual full real names, but that's close enough.

    Re: The song theme game.

Maybe the theme needs to be a little more difficult. Why don't we name 25 to 50 songs in this catagory?
This & the TV theme game, I think I'll just sit out until the themes are just a little less complicating. I started not to even post "Nightshift"... whatever.

Name 10 (or 20) songs with the name of a historical figure in the title...

    1. Rock Me, Amadeus - Falco
    2. Empty Garden (Hey, Hey Johnny) - Elton John [about John Lennon]
    3. King Tut - Steve Martin
    4. Bette Davis Eyes - Kim Carnes (is she historical enough?)
    5. Roll Over Beethoven - Chuck Berry (later also covered by the Beatles, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Byrds, Iron Maiden and ELO)
    6. Vincent - Don McLean
    7. Tricky Dicky - Country Joe MacDonald [about Richard M. Nixon]
    8. Mister Crowley - Ozzy
    9. Abraham, Martin & John - Dion, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles as well as others. A 1968 tribute to Lincoln, King, JFK & RFK.
    10. Nightshift - The Commodores (Tribute to Marvin Gaye & Jackie Wilson)
    11. Billy The Kid - Woody Guthrie
    12. Just Like Jesse James - Cher

    Re: The song theme game.

I apologize if the discussion about the intention behind the theme came off as offensive, BoBoFan. I don't think that was FireWoman's intent, and I know it wasn't mine.

As for the issue about difficulty, I usually ask myself before I pick a topic, if its my turn to do so, how many possible answers I can think of off the top of my head. If I can think of at least four, with no serious difficulty, I assume that ten can't be that tough. That's just me though--I don't know what standard anyone else here is using.

*Just my two cents...20 songs equals a lot of typing. Maybe
we could create a "surplus" file of terrific categories that have
dozens of possible replies. If someone draws a blank with a new category, just check out the surplus file. Speaking for myself, it's
    a lot of typing.*
