I agree. As the old proverb goes:

    Pride goes before destruction,
a haughty spirit before a fall

I'd give up Pride. With the job I have, there is no way I could give up compassion.

I didn't really have to think. Pride.

    I agree, Mantenna.

I have to go with pride. This reminded me of something I found and had made into a plaque for my son

    (Your Last Name Here)
You got it from your father, it was all he had to give
So it's yours to use and cherish for as long as you may live
If you lose the watch he gave you, it can always be replaced
But a black mark on your name son, can never be erased
It was clean the day you took it, and a worthy name to bear
When he got it from his father there was no dishonor there
So make sure you guard it wisely, after all is said and done
You'll be glad the name is spotless when you give it to your son

I was thinking for a while and I'll give up my pride.

Compassion and my integrity is without a doubt very important to me.

Why would I have to give up any of them? (I hate answering questions without knowing the why behind them)

I guess pride. Pride is sort of a personal thing anyway, people are proud of some really odd things about themselves.

    Molly,

I honestly didn't even interpret it that way. Thanks for clarifying though!

Your husband must have been an extremely bright man
