what is it about atlanta that it costs so much more than other places?
i'm in michigan and i can fly to los angeles for less than i can fly to atlanta.

Who knows, it seems Atlanta would be cheaper. It's a huge airport and a hub.

Fly into Greenville SC and you can ride to Atlanta with me.

Actually I think they prefer the New York City of the South.

Besides Southerners are friendlier than Parisians if you try to speak our language.

That should not be the case at all...wait for an Airtran sale, which should put the price at around $150 RT; if you don't like that airline, Delta and several others usually match on equivalent flights.

I always thought Atlanta was cheap to fly into. Considering that if you fly anywhere on the east side of the US, you have to change planes in Atlanta. In fact it's an OLD joke that if you die on this side of the Mississippi river, no matter if you go to heaven or hell, you have to change in Atlanta.
