    Is This Show Cruel?

Them voting someone the "most undesirable" seemed pretty cruel. I know a few of the guys didn't want to vote but some other jumped on the chance to hurt someones feelings. This show seemed to be lacking something to get me hooked in the beginning and the that one part made me lose interest in it...anyone else think this or is it just me?

Voting the "most undesirables," eh? Sounds like a real winner to me. I didn't watch the premiere tonight, and now I'm going to just pass on it altogether. I don't really enjoy watching people be cruel to each other--on television or anywhere else.

Right there with you Manny. I hate cruel people and watching this show do it to people when it wasn't needed was stupid. I will watch it tomorrow, but not sure past that.

I think this ever increasing "cruelty angle" is really ruining reality tv.

My wife and I watched one episode of "The Simple Life" and 1 episode of "Big Fat Fiancee" because the cruelty level was just too high.

I almost didn't watch AJ2 for the same reason.

All reality shows have a chance to eliminate the person that you like the least. That is how all of the competitions work (besides the Apprentice). This one, instead of watching the show at home these people get to see the reasons behind the voting. Not a bad thing considering that now Mary gets to make a decision based on what the guys said about her. She is more educated on the personalities of her fellow contestants then most people in the first days of a reality TV show are. I thought it was a little trashy but rather clever of fox to do that!!!!

I don't know about cruel, but it is definitely perverse -- asking people to play a game where they don't know the rules and are not advised of the ramifications of their actions. Talk about a helpless feeling. Add to that the fact that you can't leave by your own volition (without losing some cash) and may not even know, on any given week, how to go about getting your self banished b/c I have the feeling that the rules change on the fly at the producers' whim, and you have a truly sissyphean existence.

I can't feel too much sorrow for these folks, though -- with the reality TV climate as it is right now, you'd have to be a complete moron to go onto a new show and not expect something horrible to happen to you -- the twists and trainwrecks are what get people watching, not the standard fare, "twenty girls competing for one guy" angle.

With that said, I'll be watching.

I watched but am not sure I will continue. I feel uncomfortable when they show such ignorance. The one girl who just kept on and on about the man's feet being black had me so embarassed for her. He was as nice as he could be but won't that wear thin after a while?

    Cruel?

I don't think it was extraordinarily cruel...think back to some of the wild twists we saw in Paradise Hotel. This time the players got hit right off the bat instead of the way PH took a few episodes to get mean. It may feel abrupt but it's definitely a way to kick the game up a notch!

It was a bit strange that they had to vote the "most undesirable" out. Stupid shows, I tell ya.

But..ya know, buck up and take it like a woman/man. Think about it....being voted the most undesirable is NOTHING compared to what came out of her own mouth. "I've never seen so many black people in my life"... "Wow..I've never seen a black man before"... "Did you step in something or are your feet black??".. etc..etc.. Honestly, she is her own embarrassing idiot self.

So.. now we know that they're going to be voting off the most undesirable... shouldn't be a surprise to ANYONE who gets voted off later...so I don't see it being cruel. They CAN leave. They aren't in a holding cell for us to watch. ALL of them knew what they were getting into when they signed up...and I can assure you that they are ALL familiar with Paradise Hotel. By the way they were acting...come on, they were HOPING for a good ole trashy PHo castoff. They got it. And I'll watch it!!
