And I do find Ina to be quite snooty and can't stand watching her. Her whole Hamptons/Paris persona is just not interesting to me whether she is trained or not.
I can't stand watching her because all of her recipes are so fattening and look big enough to feed an army. We have no use for 2 lbs of brownies cut to the size of dinner plates in my house. I don't like Paula Deen either for the same reason.

I do, too. I love Daisy. She has some really good authentic Latino recipes, with an emphasis on Puerto Rican food. Caribbean Latinos cook completely differently than South Americans, so it's fun to see new stuff I'm not familiar with.

    Ina's food does look decadent!

My family is from the Caribbean so I was so thrilled the first time I saw Daisy. Finally someone cooking Latino food that isn't tacos or enchiladas! I catch her on a PBS channel on our cable but the schedule changed and I am not sure when she is on anymore.

I really wish Jag has not messed up last season. Yes, his food was a little complicated, but I think he would have toned that down for TV and his ideas were great..... I would have watched his show.
    Because I said so ....

I'm not, either. I know she has her own website, but I think it's for her book. Not many details there, unfortunately. I remember I'd often miss her show because it was on at such an odd time (Saturdays at 9am or something?).

who in their right mind would wear a $300 shirt in the kitchen???

I would rather watch a show with a good cook as opposed to a snooty chef. Give me Guy, Rachael or Paula any day.

It's the endless references to Jeffrey that make me want to turn the channel when Ina is on, but at least she chews with her mouth shut.

Not sure that I really have a clear favorite this year, although I can certainly eliminate some contestants as they get on my last good nerve. I'm not sure I'd be comfortable wearing a $300 shirt anywhere.

Would have loved for Paul to win last season.

Especially with how long the winner lasted. The first time she said she wanted out they should have not given her a chance to rethink it. And she should have gone with her gut on that.

I so dislike watching Lisa. She just irks me for some reason.
I also wonder why Jennifer is even there? She knows diddly about cooking on the food network star level She did not even know what Lisa's dish had in it. Than to crack the lid on that jar. Who in heck opens a jar like that??

I actually like Aaron I wish he could loosen up a little cause he seems to know food.
Shane is also really good at what he does but needs to loosen up.

They do not seem however to have many real masters this time to choose from.

Re: The Next Food Network Star

I still like Lisa the best so far and didn't think she seemed fake at all during her on-air time to discribe the dish. They told her to lighten up, but I think she was WAY too outwardly accepting of Jennifer's inept kitchen skills. I guess she did minimize her role as much as possible though. Couldn't they have taken a thin turkey breast filet and a thinner chicken breast filet and wrap them around a duck sausage? Even if they had to partially cook them prior to wrapping, wouldn't this have worked?

I too can't get over Jennifer's stupid jar opening technique. Apparently there was no jar opening device in that whole kitchen. I have at least 3 in my tiny kitchen and it's hardly filled with every do-dad known to man. She said that Lisa agreed that the juice/gravy was unacceptable, but I never saw that and wonder if it was the case. Also tasting it by itself and tasting it with the meat are two different things. Jenn kept telling us that she knows food and techniques, but continuously showed us that she didn't. I'm relieved that she's gone.

Adam just has no common sense. He disparaged Aaron for buying boneless chicken and then waited until the last minute to accept the fact that he should have used them from the start. I'm anxious for him to leave.

Aaron seems to have good instincts, but can't handle the pressure. It's painful to watch him.

Shane has vastly improved from ep #1. He is now shockingly a contender. I never saw that coming.
