8/6 Food Network Star 13 Double Show Discussion

8PM ET: Star Salvation 3 - One ousted rival will rejoin the competition, but only if he or she can survive the journey on "Star Salvation," hosted by Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli and "Food Network Star" Season 7 winner Jeff Mauro.

9PM ET: Who Wants a Pilot? - With the help of former finalists, the last four competitors must cook for the privilege of making a pilot. Former winner Eddie Jackson is back to help select the three finalists, who then shoot pilots directed by Guy Fieri.

The winner is chosen next week.

    Enjoy the shows!

Ah, the finale is not this week, then, but next.

Jason and Cory got pilots. It's down to Rusty and Matthew for the third...

    ...and Rusty gets it!

    Bye bye Matthew!

Rusty really turned it around on that intro, but he's going to need a lot of guidance. He really doesn't seem ready to do a pilot at this point, but he does listen and pick up on things quickly, so perhaps the judges will consider that a big enough positive to offset his inexperience and nervousness.

Jason on meeting Guy: "Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit!"

He's nervous at first, but he warms up eventually, like Rusty did. Corey probably caught on the quickest, but I really hope he doesn't win. He just seems a little slick, for lack of a better word, to me.

    HAHAHAHAHA!

The smug "I know they're going to pick me over Rusty" sneer Matt had on his face. Then, the look of horror when yes indeed, the judges picked Rusty. The tears. It was delicious. Bye Matt...don't let the door hit you on the way out!

Guy turned out to be a really good coach. He seemed to want everyone to do well, and gave good tips on how to behave in front of the camera. I really enjoyed his direction.

Very disappointed that Matthew was sent home. I thought he was way stronger than Rusty today and throughout the whole season. Good luck Jason.

Cory's arm waving made me dizzy. Also, they spent so much time on Rusty that I thought Jason's tutorial might be carried over to next week.

Poor Rusty, you can read "brain freeze" all over his face. I'm glad Guy called out Jason on the "honeys". He needs to find a balance. I have, however, enjoyed his after show side remarks (in the red shirt) as they have been witty and clever.

Matthew was almost there the past two weeks. I think Bobby and Giada were afraid he would revert back to flipping his on/off switch. It was hard to see him cry, though.

I think it will be between Jason and Cory. Why do we have to wait a week to view their pilots? And, those really are not pilots, are they? These are cooks. Like last season, why are they in a situation where they could go on the road with Fieri sampling another chef's food.

Oh...I wanted to strangle Suzanne for not following Jason's orders to let the flame die down. He couldn't tell when she brought the bourbon concoction over and it was too boozy. Otherwise, he would have had the perfect desert. Boo, Suzanne!
