I was actually surprised as we all know how these things usually played out. That said, I am thrilled!

I thought both contestant judges did well.

Regarding the first challenge - cooking with an unusual ingredient - I disagree with the premise. They say a Food Network star needs to be a food authority. That's true for someone who wants to be an iron chef or a judge on Chopped or someone doing a "Good Eats"-type show. But if someone's doing a show on Korean cooking, I want them to be knowledgable about Korean ingredients, and don't care whether or not they know about salsify or Swedish pickled herring.

I didn't mind the challenge though because it did show who can think quickly and let us see contestants' knowledge of techniques.

I'm half way through and I must say I'm finally "getting" Danushka's dry sense of humor. Some of her camera comments have had me laughing out loud; others had me cringing, but I'm inching toward the appreciation side of the line.

She'd be hilarious as a Real Housewife, but I don't think TV chef was in the cards for her.

Oh well, there are dozens of reality shows that she hasn't tried yet -- she could marry into the Duck Dynasty!

Duck Dynasty wouldn't know what to do with her!!! And momma wouldn't put up with her!!

Her attitude during the Chop segment was what nailed her fate.

Ah, wouldn't you know...just as I was beginning to get her, she gets chopped.

Interesting that they showed preferences, but no winner for the Star challenge, both challenges, actually.

Same thing is happening on HGTV Star. I think they might have the same producers. I'm going to have to pay attention to the credits for both shows.

She basically did a cardinal sin for Chopped, looking bored and like you have plenty of time. The cameras want to see you rushing, plating down to the last second, the drama, etc.

She may have stayed around a week or two longer for drama purposes if she hadn't done that. In effect she was making fun of a Food Network show. They don't like that at all. Have to save that for when you get big and are off Food Network (i.e. Anthony Bourdain).

They most definitely got it right this time. It was time for Danushka to go.
