I finally caught up on Tivo - watching all 3 eps to date.

I'm not a fan of Eric. He's a lovable teddy bear, but that's about it. He cannot get comfortable in front of the camera and seems totally clueless about the kitchen. His whole "mean cuisine" makes no sense, and they've called him on it more than once.

Susannah is definitely a natural - in fact she reminds me of a host on QVC (Jill Bauer). She's polished and comfortable on camera and with food. Not sure if she's too "cookie-cutter" for the FN.

Michael is definitely out there, but is quick-witted and that could help. If he calms down and focuses, I think he could win.

Hans is an awesome cook and I actually did think he was telling about himself in the first episode (well, 2nd - the first elimination show), so I was surprised he was on the block. I enjoy him. Not sure about his "lets cook with stuff we usually hate" idea though. I will never like dried codfish Hans, sorry!

Dan/Steve - they work well off of each other and I think once they learn who is truly responsible for what, they could be terrific. When the grill was on fire, I was cracking up and they stayed pretty composed.

Debra (aka Danielle - I'm so with you guys on that!) - too phony. She's trying to infuse this carribean flare into everything and it seems too forced. She seems better off when she's not as plastic-y. She seems comfortable in the kitchen.

It was time for Harmony to go. Her "use your senses" could only go so far and she couldn't really describe to the selection committee what it was all about. If you want soft porn on the FN, check out Everyday Italian. I think they have the five senses sewn up on that show!

All in all, I would like Michael, Hans or Dan/Steve to win.

Deborah was very different in her audition tape. She was soft, sexy and relaxed. I think she is going next week if she is not able to get back there. With her vision being too grand she has a lot going against her. She has been in the last group to be chosen each week.

Suzanne has it more together than the others. They thought her dish was bland but it is easy to monitor her menu choices. They are looking for a show that will attract viewers and a personality that works on camera. I don't like the low cal and low carb shows they have and would not watch her but many would. They said they wanted her to continue "for now" giving the signal that she is slipping. She could go next week as well.

Eric His personality is not catching me at all. I don't really like him but they sure do. He has been the first chosen each time. I doubt he can get it together in front of the camera. I can't believe he made potato salad with common and very elementary ingredients AND they raved about it. Very odd. He seems to be their favorite.

Michael Not doing it for me but they like him. He is not that witty.

Hans Food you fear is just not going to cut it no matter who much he opens up.

Dan and Steve They are my favorite and some polish on their "act" makes them a strong contender for final 2. I like their wit and vision. A show devoted to entertaining appeals to me.

The telepromter would drive me nuts. I could talk my way through preparing a dish but with my own words, not a script. The chefs, now on FN, do not look at the prompter much, if at all. They probably check the time left in a segment but I do not see any of them reading other than the introduction.

They absolutely chose the right person to go this week. Eric and Susannah should go soon, too, then Deborah. After that, we'll see.

I still like Deborah, but she needs to lose the phonyness.

I'm beginning to like Dan and Steve more and more!

I think the main problem with the TelePrompter is, these people have not prepared for the shows they are doing, unlike the existing stars. I'm sure when Rachael Ray does a show, it has been planned for quite a while, and so she knows exactly what is going on. It's a little deceiving judging the contestants on the TelePrompter as much as they do.

I just saw the show last night, so here's my $0.02:

It would be nice to have someone who looks like Harmony on FN, but she was too much of a flake and not good enough in front of the camera. Her "sensual cooking" was more of a hippie-dippy thing than being sexy. Going for romantic and sexy would have been a better approach. It's always a tragedy when the only eye candy leaves a reality show so soon, but I'll make it somehow.

I think you guys are insulting Danielle by comparing her with Deborah. I always thought Dani was very attractive, but don't get that feeling with Deborah. I'm glad the FN judges are recognizing that her "personality" is contrived. I like her less as I see more of her.

Michael is the funny guy who isn't funny. He looks like an actor or comedian and I haven't figured out who it is yet. That guy probably isn't funny, either, or I'd remember him.

Susannah and Hans are still the ones I think are the best, but they both have their faults. I think Marybeth and Dogbat are exactly right that Hans is making a serious mistake in going with the "food you hate" angle. He is a talented cook and should be doing something like "food you love, only better." And he doesn't have to be wacky or cutesy to be successful. It's very possible to be a serious chef and still be compelling. Susannah has a good angle for a show, but as has been discussed, it's already being done a lot. The injury was unfortunate, but she really let it get to her.

Eric isn't going to make it. He has an engaging personality, but so what? That doesn't mean he should have a cooking show. He doesn't seem like much of a cook, and his whole "mean cuisine" thing is really disjointed. He isn't good in front of the camera, and I don't see him getting much better.

Dan/Steve have a good angle with the entertaining thing, but they still don't do anything for me. Just pretty bland. Maybe they will get better as time goes on, but I could take them or leave them at this point.

I guess the bottom line for me is that I probably wouldn't watch any of these people if they had their own cooking show. I do enjoy this reality show, though, and will keep watching.

I'm so glad Food Network showed the first three episodes last Sunday, because now I'm all caught up. I do like pretty much everyone on the show, because overall they seem to be generally nice people. I'm even sad to see Harmony "Rock Your Senses" Shoe Model go, though it was funny to see her demo for Mario Battali. I think she was the only person they shot from an above angle (the better to look down at the cleavage in her skimpy top), and I swear it looked like Mario was gonna pop his wad when she was fondling that pizza dough.

I TiVo'd the first three episodes that were replayed on Sunday night, so I'm now all caught up, too. Anyhoo...

Susannah does absolutely nothing for me. She reminds me too much of Rachel Ray. Now, I like Rachel, but FN doesn't need two Rachels. I agree with whoever it was on the Selection Committee that said that she's almost too polished (or whatever the word was) and would be perfect on one of those local morning news/talk shows. That producer guy (not Gordon Elliott; the other one) who pointed out that she's all perky and Kathy Lee-esque when the cameras are rolling but immediately drops that once the cameras are off is exactly right! I noticed that big-time in the third episode.

I'm with Chach on Deborah. (Not on the Danielle stuff, though. I couldn't stand Danielle and thought she was evil incarnate. But, I digress...) I thought I was going to like her, but I find I like her less and less as the show goes on. "Stay cute while you're in the kitchen"? WTH is that?

I like Eric, but he really needs to get it together quick, or he'll be gone sooner rather than later. I don't get the whole "Mean Cuisine" thing, but maybe that's just me. If he could lose the on-camera nerves and get better organized in the kitchen, I think he could be a winner.

Hans probably is the most knowledgeable one about food in the group (IMO), but I agree with the Selection Committee re: his personality. He really needs to liven it up, or he may beat Eric out the door. That being said, I'd really like to see him continue on.

Michael...Michael...Michael. I can't decide about him. I think he's funny and all, but I can also see how his shtick could get really annoying and really old really fast. He does seem to be the one who adapts the best, though, to the unforeseen things like the cake pan falling apart, no water for washing his hands, etc.

Harmony got on my nerves a little, too, and I wasn't surprised to see her go this past week. (Though I was kinda hoping Deborah would be taken down a notch or two and shown the door...) She seemed too flighty to me.

Ah, Brook...we hardly got to know ya. That's too bad, too. I mean, how many FN shows have some male eye candy? I do agree, though, that he talked way too fast and really needed to slow that down. He seemed like he knew his stuff, though. It would have been interesting to see how far he could have gotten.

I guess my favorites at this point are Dan and Steve. They have a good rapport, and their sense of humor is present without being too in-your-face (*cough*Michael*cough*). They do seem a bit scatterbrained in the kitchen, though, so I hope they can get that together.
