I'm not adventurous either, italian, mexican, chinese and American is all I do, lol! I do like a little spice though. I like Buffalo wings and such.

Oh yeah, I would never either! I don't like any seafood except for shrimp.

If you go to a restaurant with a food you've never tried, say Indian, how do you know what to order?

This was my first time at an Indian restaurant! I've eaten chicken curry from a food truck before but that's about it... my friend who went with me knew what to order and could make suggestions. He got the chicken masala and garlic naan bread in the photos. He also had a soup. My dishes were more mainstream - a salad that was similar to what you would get anyplace and grouper.

I would also just tell the server it's my first time eating XXX type of food, what would you recommend?

That's what I was going to recommend. If you're not with someone who could guide you, ask the server. Let them know if you don't like something too spicy or have off limit foods. If you're really adventurous, ask if the chef would make whatever he considers his specialty. Sometimes they'll really go overboard to impress you.

My Pakistani friend calls butter chicken "Indian food for white people", so you might want to try that, or tandoori chicken (spicy chicken baked in a tandoori oven), along with a any combination of aloo gobi (curried cauliflower and potatoes), daal (lentils), naan (flatbread), samosa (vegetable ones are better than meat in my opinion), saag paneer (kind of a creamed spinach with chunks of a sort of flavourless cheese), and channa masala (sort of like a curried chili made with chickpeas).
And so it begins, the end of times..

I took a picture of my food from Casa Grande before digging in: 2 tacos, 2 enchiladas, chips and salsa, and avocado quarters, plus sour cream and a Dr. Pepper. I ended up eating only part of the chips, the avocado, and the tacos. I was too full to start on the enchiladas so I saved them for tomorrow.
