What's For Dinner TONIGHT?

I'm cooking onion and pepper sausage and putting them in a spaghetti sauce. Over linguini. (Let's hope this works!)

How 'bout a no-cheese "Hawai'ian" pizza:
Whole wheat crust (or flatbread), zesty tomato sauce, ham, sweet onions, bell peppers, pineapple chunks.

I've been scouring the internet for recipes to use ham in that don't include cheese or cream! I'm not having too much luck. Just a few recipes that, frankly, don't sound all that good. I'm definitely freezing a bunch of it today. With turkey, so much of it is bones and you actually don't end up with that much meat on a comparably sized turkey. A 12 pound ham, OTOH, is A LOT of meat!

I only got an 8-pound ham, and there are three of us, so I don't have quite as much left over as you.

If you like cabbage (which I happen to love), the ham/potato/cabbage whatever I made came out really well. I sauteed the potatoes (in bacon fat, but you could use oil); I steamed the cabbage; I diced the ham. Then I mixed it all together and seasoned it with some sesame oil, mirin, and rice vinegar.

Tonight, it's bean soup. My mom bought be a few packages of Hambone soup mix from Honey Baked. It's my favorite and our store here is always out of it. I love recipes where all I have to do is add water AND it's delicious! I put everything in the crockpot this morning. The house smells SO good!

I'll probably make soup tomorrow. It can simmer all afternoon and be ready when my son gets home so that he can eat before swim team practice.

(Not that this belongs here, but they had the first meet last night against one of the other local high schools and they won! My son had two best times...one first place, one second...and also helped the medley relay and 400 free relay place first. It was a very good night :-))

I did as well!!! but alas, they have been tested and work wonderfully
