Tonight: Crock pot mustard chicken, with carrots, onions, mushrooms & red/green/yellow peppers. Not sure of the side dish. Either whole grain pasta or brown/wild rice. I'll decide when I get home.

I know I pitch my beans and greens diet, but when I'm offered excellent food, I make an exception. Life is short. Pleasure is sweet. I'm visiting my daughter who is a chef. She and her friend, who is also a chef, made us a meal completely from scratch... lasagna with freshly made noodles, bechamel sauce from scratch (instead of ricotta - more authentic Italian), ground turkey, homemade tomato sauce. Spinach salad with chopped veggies, lemon and olive oil. Apple strudel in layers of phyllo dough and melted butter with vanilla ice cream that churned while we ate the lasagna. OMG!!!!!! Half the fun was being in the kitchen while all this was going on with my mom helping to chop the veggies and peel apples. 3 generations and friends.
Count your blessings!
Not gonna lie, last night was my monthly fast food night. I pick one night each month to get whatever fast food I'm craving. This time it was McDonald's and the fries were very good. Totally worth it.
Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.' - Isaac Asimov

Tonights dinner... Halibut wrapped in prosciutto... lentils and an herb salad.
Was watching tv and Joanne Weir was making this. It looks really good. Can't find the recipe to print out. Good thing I taped the episode. Rustic yet refined.
