Safeway had T-bone steaks for $4.99 a pound in the large pack. So we went over to get some and realized we also had a coupon for $10 off our next purchase. So we got $39 worth of T-bone steaks for $7.45.

I'm thinkin' we'll have steak tonight! (Really, this will be at least 3 dinners for the 2 of us, and probably leftovers made into soup. I love saving money on groceries so we can use the money for stuff like vacations!)

I had taste for BLT's ... so that's what I made and the tomatoes are straight from the garden.

Going with mom and two girlfriends out to upscale down home food place and then to open mic nights to watch different local talents.
    You can do it!

It was "use up what's going to go bad" night for me... stewed tomatoes, beet greens, Asian pears with bleu cheese.
    Count your blessings!

I made Paul Prudhomme's Cajun Shepherd's Pie last night. I LOVE THIS DISH!!! It is pretty time intense, especially because there is a layer of julienne veggies between the meat and mashed potatoes. I can't wait to have leftovers for dinner tonight!
This is one of the few dishes that can entice my 13 year old son into eating meat!

I have never made a gumbo before. I think I'm going to try it out later this week.

I am cooking a pot of brown beans and will have potatoes and cornbread with it and maybe a meat. It is rainy and chilly here and beans are a good cooler weather food.

I put a pot roast (boneless chuck) in the slow cooker last night. I thickened the gravy ... and set it all aside.
I am trying to decide between, mashed potatoes and bread dumplings and will make sweet, quick-candied carrots.

This is an autumn comfort meal here.

    I vote for mashed potatoes!
