    Your Top 15 Foods

    Before I started this thread, I narrowed down my list of favorite foods as well as I could and it came to more than 10 so I decided to round the number up to 15. I'm specifically asking for favorite foods, not favorite dishes, so instead of listing fried chicken, pizza, or hamburgers, you might list chicken, pepperoni, or beef.

    Here are my 15 selections, in no particular order. It was hard enough to pare the list down this far, without deciding which food I liked better than another! That changes all the time, anyway, depending on my tastes or how frequently I've had the item.

    1. Salmon
    2. Blue cheese
    3. Milk chocolate
    4. Sour cream
    5. Eggs
    6. Potatoes
    7. Corn
    8. Ribeye steak
    9. Cornish hen
    10. Mandarin Oranges
    11. Black beans
    12. Avocado
    13. Tuna
    14. Peanut Butter
    15. Bacon

    Honorable mention to pears, pineapple and almonds. They almost made the list but I liked other foods a bit better.

    Gutmutter, your list makes me think of a recipe I tried from a Weight Watchers cookbook--gingered carrots. I get tired of having the same vegetables over and over so when I've been on WW for awhile, I start looking for new vegetables to try or new ways to prepare the vegetables I eat. I liked cooked carrots and ginger so the recipe appealed to me. It was pretty good. It will never beat mashed potatoes for me but it's certainly healthier, a good choice for when you're trying to watch your weight.

    If you've never tried gingered carrots, you might try looking up a recipe for it online. I bet you'd love it!

    Wow - this isn't going to be good for my diet but here goes:

    1) filet minion w/porcini mushroom sauce
    2) pasta with anything
    3) cheeseburger w/chili, onions and mustard
    4) Southern-style pork barbeque (Lexington or Eastern NC, don't care!)
    5) fish (any kind: salmon, tuna, catfish, trout, cod...)
    6) bacon - seriously, who can't love bacon
    7) berries (any) with fresh whipped cream
    8) 15-bean soup with turkey sausage (my recipe)
    9) eggs - boiled, scrambled, or fried (not poached, though)
    10) pasta salad in the summer (macaroni, mayo, celery, tomatoes, cucumber, celery seed, vinegar)
    11) fried chicken (can't eat it but LOVE it)
    12) yellow squash and onions
    13) Hebrew National hotdogs w/mustard, chili, and onions
    14) chicken pot pie, the old fashioned way
    15) sauteed spinach/garlic/mushrooms

    You're right--this was a difficult list to make. I don't shop often, so I made the list based on how often I buy these items.
