Looks like I'm cooking on Christmas. There'll only be 5 or 6. I'm used to cooking for a lot more with a much bigger turkey.
Anyone have any idea what size turkey I'd need for 5 - 6 people.?
TIA

We had a 9lb turkey at Thanksgiving and we had 8 people. There were left overs for a couple of days.
Yup, with donuts!!

1. Count the number of people who will be eating turkey - remember that this number may be different than the total number of guests if the group includes vegetarians.
2. Figure on 1 pound of unstuffed, whole turkey per person for moderate leftovers. Allow about 1.3 pounds per person for more leftovers.
3. Figure on about 3/4 pound per person if you're buying just a turkey breast. Allow 1/2 pound per person for boneless turkey breast.
4. Allow about 1-1/4 pounds per person if you're buying a prestuffed, frozen bird.
For Thanksgiving, we had an 11-pound (free-range, organic, minimally processed, not injected with anything) turkey for four adults. We had a good amount of leftovers (for two) -- not a ridiculous amount, just right for an apartment fridge/freezer.

can anyone recommend some type of salad I can take to my brothers for Christmas dinner? He is making a big piece of beef. Some type of veggie salad or fruit salad that is low carb..
