Re: What Are You Known For

I'm known for my Tiramisù. Just yesterday, my husband told me his coworkers asked if I can make one for them for their office party. I said not unless I'm invited.

Re: What Are You Known For

DR, will you post the recipe for it? I've made it before, but I thought the recipe I used called for way too much rum, that is all you could taste. Ever since then, I've been really turned off from Tiramisu. Well, over the weekend, I was eating at a nice Italian restaurant and we shared some tiramisu and it was great. I thought I should try making it again.

YG, I had posted it in the old Recipe thread. I just added it to the new Just recipes thread. I don't use rhum, I add a little Tia Maria or other coffee liqueur to espresso coffee and quickly dip the cookies in it.

Re: What Are You Known For

i love tiramisu, so I am definitely going to check that recipe out, DR!

I am known for my cheesecake, my Frenchie potatoes, and my seared mahi mahi (or any type of white flaky fish) poached in tomato sauce.

I'm not really known for anything because I hardly ever get anything to come out the same way twice. My husband and son love my cooking and I do an okay squash casserole or mac and cheese but they never quite come out the same each time. I don't cook too much for anyone outside the family. I've always been self-conscious because when I show up with my dish, inevitably everyone raves on and on about something someone else has brought. I took some artichoke dip to a gathering recently and another person brought stuffed mushrooms. All night I heard how those were the "best stuffed mushrooms they ever tasted." One person had never even heard of artichokes so I knew that wasn't a good sign at that point. I did get some compliments but nothing on the level of the "best mushrooms ever!"

I'd really like to master stuffed mushrooms (my past attempts have had so-so results) so if anyone has a good tried and true for that please post in the recipes thread. I don't care too much for sausage in them (which the ones at the party had) but can adapt the recipe if necessary.
LOL! That is too funny! They've never heard of artichokes? You must've been like:

I can post my guac recipe if you'd like. I never measure, so I'll have to approximate.

Re: What Are You Known For

I always have to bring my creamy cole slaw to any gathering that we're invited to. And when I was working I was famous for my Oatmeal cookies. I had to bring them to work at least once a month. Teach them to lay me off... no more cookies for them!! Ha!

Re: What Are You Known For

I'm known for German Potato Salad (a recipe my mother found in a cookbook) and desserts. I grew up baking so I'm pretty comfortable doing that.

I just shipped some out to my sister in Pennsylvania for her bday as they can't get it out there, either. What a bummer! Most all of our grocery stores seem to carry it here... I wonder why it isn't an all over thing?

You all are making me hungry. Lasagna, potato salads, fried chicken, mac and cheese.... and everything!

Can we have a FORT potluck?

Re: What Are You Known For

I LOVE Baklava. There is a small israeli resturant here that makes THE best.

I used to be able to get that cherry chip cake mix in Florida years ago. But not anymore and they don't carry it here either.
