Thanks for the explanation, gutmutter. I love apple fritters. Yum. I had to look up an image of a bear claw as I did not know what they were. Oh my!

I wouldn't know a bear claw if it swiped me across my face.

If I'm going to drink orange juice, I get the kind that has plant sterols in it to lower cholesterol. It has a red heart on the carton.

Thank you for the OJ tip. Now, let's see if I get it before summer! I have a grocery store coupon for $10 that expires by the end of the month, and I'm determined not to let it go unused....after all, I have sardines to buy!

Wow! The claws really look like claws. That's entertaining! Looks awfully bready/doughy.

Why might I want to eat an egg-white anything?

I know - they've backed off telling you not to eat the yolk and that is where all the lutein is!

    Re: General Food Talk

I am not a meringue fan.

An egg white omelet sounds disgusting but, when they are normal, I LOVE omelets.

I tend to require yolks with my egg whites.

    Re: General Food Talk

I LOVE meringue and I actually enjoy an egg white omelet when I want something lighter. I like the yolks too. I'm a fan of eggs, full stop.

ETA: Gut, isn't it funny how, every few years, the "experts" back off of whatever dietary prohibition they previously issued? Now egg yolks turn out to not be all that bad for us after all. I think the old "everything in moderation, including moderation" thing is the best advice to follow.

I do like meringue cookies....if they still make those but, that's pretty much where I draw the line.

Haven't had any in years but, as I recall, they were terrific!
