I make jerky but the meat prices have been to high for me to make it. I usually dry at least 200 lbs. of marinated meat which then gives me at least 70 lbs of dried. I have a customer base for it and they are begging me to make some but not until meat comes down and it gets colder.and I can fire up the dehydrator. I have a huge dehydrator.

Maybe it's about time for you to start charging for your jerky? I wouldn't know a dehydrator if it walked up and shook my hand!

I make jerky from time to time. I used to make it every year for Christmas for the men in my family. I'd make cookies for the ladies.

Sometimes my uncle would give me venison to make jerky for him but most of the time I'd use flank steak or round steak.

Like nennie, I stopped making it as often once the cost of meat went up. My dehydrator crapped out so now I make it in my convection oven.

prhoshay I do charge for my jerky. I just try to keep the cost down for my customers since it is a luxury for most of them.

This place does very well with both. (Weird combination, but locals and our guests have embraced this shop.)
A plus? It's just next door to Temecula Olive Oil.

I don't eat a lot of meat anymore, but I like Trader Joe's buffalo jerky.

I outgrew root beer as a child, and can't stand the thought of it, to this very day.
