I mentioned this in the Dinner thread. The Walmarts in my area have good produce. The produce departments aren't huge, but they have good stuff.

I do love Walmart for that... they do seem to have the lowest prices.

I've never heard of Kroger is that one of those "buy in bulk" sort of stores?

I'm not really sure how I feel of those sort of stores... especially with veggies. I can't seem to eat them fast enough. Then I'm left with a bunch of rotten veggies.

No. Kroger is not a buy-in-bulk store. It is like Albertson's. A sizeable chain that almost carries everything you may want to go to on a Saturday morning if you have a normal amount of groceries to buy.

Our Walmart has great produce. Our farmers markets this year had terrible veggies. I bought 8 peppers and chopped them up and put them in the freezer. I always do that when i have extra produce that is freezable. i try to keep celery, bell peppers and the like in my freezer at all times.

Good idea. Though how do you store such veggies to not get freezer burn?

Our Meijer stores around here have the best quality produce, of any grocery chain.

Not here. Lately, the produce have been horrible.
Also... the fruit hasn't been sweet at all.

Couldn't pick out a tasty watermelon all season. And the seedless watermelon wasn't seedless.

Luckily, we have great farmstands and farmers' markets nearby.

I just use zip lock freezer bags but I use them up to fast to get freezer burned. They keep for a long time in the freezer.

Any time I have fruit I can't eat fast enough I freeze it and use it in smoothies.
The Garlic Festival is today so I have to have my annual garlic ice cream... after my annual giant veggie garlic burrito. Better make some crockpot veggie soup to eat the rest of the weekend.
    Count your blessings!
