Interesting how what's "in" right now is what used to be slave food. The slaves always got the parts that the masters didn't want. And Now It's Trendy! Just WOW!

When you throw a rock into a pack of dogs, you know which one you hit by the one that yelps!
I've gone all greens and beans and then a guest expert on Dr. Oz says that the only way to lose weight for my body type is to eat like a cave man... mainly meat with a few berries. Wha???? Darn you Dr. Oz. You have waaaaaaaay too many conflicting ideas on your show.
Count your blessings!
I have been watching the Weight of the Nation and I am really enjoying it. I think that the only thing that really works is burning more calories than you eat. If those calories are made up of 6 cookies or of 20 cups of salad it doesn't really matter in the end but the salad will fill you up better than those cookies will. *note I didn't say satisfy.
Today is yet another start of a healthy eating plan for me. Reasonable portions is the key but it doesn't help when the supermarket puts Golden Oreos on special.
That was a great message! And I've had a terrible day, so thank you.I love random acts of kindness.Really, realy appreciated.Scott- RIP SDL<3
That's true, but I'm not just looking to lose weight, I also want to be healthy. Cookies, butter, and meat aren't as healthy for you as greens, beans, and nuts.
Count your blessings!
I think moderation and exercise are the key. Not a big meat eater but dadgum I sure like that butter on my food.
You don't have to attend every argument you are invited to.
I think Dr. Oz is a total alarmist and, like Ellen said, he'll say anything to boost ratings. I don't watch him any more. He's like a snake oil salesman. His show is like those parodies of TV news where they say "Something you eat every day could be killing you. Watch the news at 11 to find out what it is." Every episode of his show is like that.
Eat a lower fat diet with lean meats, whole grains and lots of fruits and veggies and get some exercise. That's the key. It's not a big secret, but it's not so easy sometimes.
Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.' - Isaac Asimov
I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"
I like Dr. Oz. He makes a lot of scientific sense. You've got to know what to take away with you from his show, and what to leave there. You shouldn't follow him like he is "The Second Coming", but you should know enough about your body to make good decisions for yourself.

Logically I know what to do. It is just a matter of sticking to it. I see both my mother and sister who lost weight with fad diets put it back on as soon as they start eating regularly again. I need instead to learn moderation and control. The food I serve my family is quite healthy- I just eat too much of it. I have older children (20,18, 14) and I keep cooking as if all 5 of us will be home for supper and then ooops it ends up being just my youngest, husband and I, and I end up overeating with extra portions.
