While on the subject of produce...please don't stick your nail into an apple to see if its ripe. It ruins the apple for sale. I worked a summer for a produce market and so many people do this.. If your apple is in the store, odds are they are ripe. Smell them to see if they smell fresh and sweet. Gently squeeze it. It should be firm.
I very much believe in rescuing animals, not buying them.

I was told when picking out Red Delicious apples, to look for apples that had 4 or more very sharp points on the bottom of the apple. Those would be the more crisp juicey apples.

I havent had a Red Delicious in years; they used to be all I would buy. I started eating Galas, and haven't stopped yet....again, it's been years! I might grab a Red Delicious for "old times sake".

    Re: General Food Talk

I have a friend who does the sample cart at WalMart and today she was there and was doing the new cream cheese mix ins and I asked her how they were and she likes them so she gave me a sample type recipe she uses and I cam home and did it and in 10 minutes I had a great meal.

    1 Pkg. stir fry veggies
1 pkg. already prepared rice or use pasta cooked
1 pkg. already prepared diced chicken( I used shrimp)
    1 tub cream cheese mixture

Put veggies in skillet with 1/2 cup water and steam for a few minutes.
Add pasta or rice and cook with veggies for a few minutes then add your meat of choice and cook til hot.
Add cream cheese and stir together and cook for just about 1 minute.

If there is still fluids in it you can drain it off before you put the cram cheese in.

nennie Is it the Philadelphia Cooking Cream? If so, I used the Original flavor and cooked the Lemon-Broccoli Rice with Chicken Recipe. It was quick, easy and good.

The new Newtons Fruit Thins are good too. A cross between a cookie and cracker. I bought the Cranberry Citrus Oat, one of 4 flavors. It is good plain or would be good as a base for an appetizer.
