My favorite country cook, my BFF from a little town in Tennessee, makes the best hot water cornbread. She and her husband talk smack about whose hot water cornbread is the best! I didn't grow up with it, but it is to die for!!!

I LOVE corn bread! My family eats it with chili, soup and anything else we can think of. Unfortunately, since I live alone, I don't have it much any more. I'd end up eating all of it much too quickly!

At many of the BBQ joints in TN that's an option. hoecakes, buns or white bread. You also get it as your bread with pulled pork dinners.

I thought you had to have cornbread with chili - I thought that was the law.
    Count your blessings!

    Re: General Food Talk

I grew up with BBQ on garlic toast. Most the BBQ places in Florida serve it that way. And that is some good stuff.
When I can't have BBQ on garlic toast, then I like my pulled pork on a bun topping the meat with coleslaw. Yummy.

Well I thought it was law to have cornbread with chili, but I recently found out that an entire family I know eats their chili with saltines and they are even more Southern than I am!

That's the way I grew up eating it.
