OK, so I just googled the images of the blue potatoes, and something about that " just ain't right".
In the Andes Mountains--the evolutionary home of the potato--there are found over 100 different kinds of potatoes including blue potaotes, purple potatoes and potatoes of almost any color you can think of.

Very pretty when they are displayed together.

Some of the oldest (genetically) potatoes are the darker-colored ones like rhe blue and the purple.

(You can learn a lot of things watching PBS-type documentaries and travel shows.

Todd English the chef has done an entire half hour show about the many types of potatoes found in the Andes.)

    Re: General Food Talk

Yesterday I made a caramel-glazed apple cake recipe that I got out of Parade magazine in a recent Sunday paper. Took it to a potluck and now they all think I should bring it to every potluck. I don't want to be stuck doing the same thing over and over, but was glad it was a hit. Hubby called it "gourmet." The cake batter was very gooey as it used vegetable oil, so I was glad it turned out well. And am so pleased with the homemade caramel glaze recipe, as that made all the difference. They were surprised I made my own caramel, but it was so easy, actually easier than shopping for store-bought. Just use quality ingredients to start (cream with no additives). I also toasted the walnuts. They said, "Did you pick your own apples, too?" Well, someone with an orchard gave me some, lol, but if I had my own trees I would have grown them myself, yeah.

But, not many come in a bag, so I'm going to have to ration them out.
