When I was doing a mini-unit on world cultures, I just had students type the country and "recipes" into google and they got lots and lots of really cool stuff. So try googling "Indian recipes".

Have you ever been hungry for something and don't know what it is?
I get to choose dinner tonight because I'm not feeling well and I need something soft due to dental surgery.
I don't know what I want. I want to be comforted. I had mashed potatos yesterday.
I'm thinking risotta, but everything I find has mushrooms in it. I'm not in the mood for mushrooms. I want something creamy and cheesy and maybe with peas or procuitto.
I guess I do know what I want.![]()

We learned a lesson about habanero chiles this week: do not saute them in oil (or probably anything) unless you have really, really good ventilation above the cooking surface. Hubby has been making wonderful recipes with small amounts of raw habaneros; this week he wanted to see how a light saute would bring out the fruitiness and add depth. Well, it did -- however, only after a half-hour of coughing fits, sneezing, and watery eyes! I managed to google "habanero fumes" while coughing, and discovered that a gazillion others had discovered the same thing the same way. We laughed a lot after that.

You need to invent a Habenero saute mask for fumes.

I can't believe that I've got my dinner cooking already! It's one of those cool, slightly damp, breezy days with football on all day; it's the perfect day for a pot of garlicky beans with sausages. I went to bed last night with this meal on my mind. I remember my grandmother cooking her entire Sunday meal before she went to chuch, every Sunday, but she didn't do the one-pots. That was a house to behold on a Sunday morning!
