| Fear Factor "Ho Ho Ho" 12-08-03 recap Fear Factor 12-08-03 Tonight we’re in for a treat – a special Christmas edition of Fear Factor! I’m not sure exactly what makes it special, aside from the holiday decorations, but I’ll take their word for it. I have a feeling something other than bells will be jingling. Let’s meet the fine folks: Selena Lay – Student from Pico Rivera, California. Geez, that’s just too easy. Lea Waide – Fitness competitor from Somerville, Tennessee. She has doubts in her intro, that can’t be a good sign. Brian Smith – Dog Walker from St. Louis, Missouri. Can people actually make a living doing that? Daren Ferden – Prison Guard from Lansing, Michigan. I thought prison guards were big guys, he could pass for one of the cell bars. Michelle DeRaedt – Waitress from Chicago, Illinois. She’s psychic because she’s a Pisces, and can see herself winning. It’s a good thing she’s cute. Julian Laurence – Theater Arts Student from Miami, Florida. He claims to be championship material. We’ll have to see about that. The gang makes their way through a makeshift neighborhood where they meet up with host Joe Rogan. He gives them the usual talking to, and shows them the first stunt: Sled Surfing A snowboard-like platform is suspended by cables 100 feet high. Contestants must ride the board down the cables and reach up to grab as many candy canes as possible. The 4 people that collect the most canes will move on. Lea is lucky #1, and takes off her sweater to reveal her physique and do a walking handstand. She could probably hurt me. She gets ready, and can’t even stand still on the board. The sled gets going, and goes about 5 feet and Lea falls off. Well, I guess she was right. Daren is next, and takes his position. He gets underway, and is cautious about getting his balance at first. He goes through the run and is able to grab 6 flags before sliding off the side. Michelle is up next, and says she’ll use the money to help her sister pay for her wedding. She predicts 11, and I’ll crap myself if she does it. She gets going, but is missing all of the canes. She gets to about the halfway point, and slides right off the front, losing a shoe is the process. She didn’t get any. Selena is up next, and we are treated to a lovely cleavage shot as she gets into position on the board. Thank you cameraman. She gets a little wobbly during her run, but is able to hang on. She has a total of 8. Julian is up next, and talks about himself in the 3rd person. I hate that. Plus, he talks too much. I hate that too. He gets going as is a bit shaky at first, and misses a bunch of them. He is able to grab 3 before falling. Brian finishes this stunt. He gets the countdown and takes off. He has a short run but managed to grab 2. The remaining players head inside for round #2. A nice looking cabin living room is all decked out with the Christmas spirit. They meet up with Joe sitting at the table, he explains the next stunt: Grab Bag One at a time, the contestants will each go over to the tree and pick up a gift box. They will open the box, and the next person will have the option of stealing that box or picking one of their own. They do that until all 4 boxes are taken, and must then eat whatever is in front of them. They will each be given 20 minutes to eat their prize. Selena chooses first, and grabs a cod egg sack covered in ants. Yummy! Julian decides to steal that meal, so Selena picks again. She opens the box, and this time gets a “live” worm sausage (sausage casing stuffed with earthworms, redworms, and superworms). Lucky girl. She sits there in shock, as Daren ponders a theft. He ends up taking it, so she picks again. I think they just like watching her bend over, I know I do. This present contains 6 rotten squid covered in flies. Brian thinks it over, and steals the cod egg. Julian grabs the last box, and it contains 5 live dragonflies. Selena is first to chow down, and can’t even put her hand in the jar to take them out. She sits there as Joe dumps it all out onto the plate. Selena gags just looking at the stuff, and quits without even making an attempt, complaining about the horrid smell. Julian grabs a dragonfly, holds it up, says “bye-bye Mr. Dragonfly”, and takes a bite. He’s freaking a bit, but manages to eat them and keep them down while making strange faces and noises. Daren is up next, and tears into his sausage. He gags a few times, and Joe pulls out the “Official Fear Factor chuck bucket”. He presses on, choking and gagging with every bite. He collects the last handful of stuff, pops it into his mouth, and polishes it off. Brian digs in, but is too busy talking and not eating fast enough. He’s about ¼ done with 10 minutes left. The clock ticks, and he eats, and Joe gives a 2 minute warning. Then it’s down to a minute. 5-4-3-2-1-TIME! He’s still eating, when Joe tells him he’s been eliminated. Brian doesn’t want to hear that though, so he sits back down and says he’s not leaving. Uh Bri, it’s not up to you…see ya. He looks like he’s ready to cry, and gets up to complain. After a few F-bombs, he finally leaves. On to the finals. The last 2 standing arrive at a flaming pool! Joe congratulates them on making it this far, and lets them in on the last stunt: Great Pools of Fire A metal structure is set at the surface, in the middle of the pool. Connected to this structure are natural gas jets that will be lit. Hanging under it will be 5 “holiday balls”. Contestants must swim under the structure and release the balls. The guy that releases all 5 the fastest will win. Heh, holiday balls. Why couldn’t the ladies be here for this? Damn. Daren loses the coin toss, and will go first. He gets ready, the pool is lit, and he dives in. He seems to be taking the “1 at a time” method. He cruises through, and is able to get the last one in 2:48. He’s exhausted, and can barely get out of the pool. Julian is talking s*** and laughing at that time, saying “it’s money in the bank”. I hope he gets burnt, and then drowns. He predicts 2 minutes and says “it’s already done”. We’ll see, wiseass. He rambles on as he gets ready, and gets the countdown. He jumps in, and on 1 breath, is able to get the first 2. He bangs his head on the way up, but sadly it wasn’t enough to knock him out. He goes back down and gets #3, but has to come up for air again. He ends up swimming around aimlessly, and tires himself out. He makes another attempt to go under, but quickly comes back to the surface. Joe asks him what he’s doing, as he passes Daren’s time. Money in the bank huh? Another one that doesn’t know the rule. Ladies and Gentlemen, Daren is your Christmas edition Fear Factor champion! To contact the author, send mail to jr@fansofrealitytv.com

| JR, I haven't read the recap yet, but when I popped in to send the link off to SLAL, my eyes landed on this line: Quote:
I can't stop laughing. Can't wait to read the rest. You always do excellent work! Thanks, man.
