Repeat after me, Anthony: let it go. Do we have to always hear how important it is for him to defeat his dad? You gotta bring some sort of skill and even a personality to knock off Pa, Junior.
When you're ten years old and a car drives by and splashes a puddle of water all over you, it's hard to decide if you should go to school like that or try to go home and change and probably be late. So while he was trying to decide, I drove by and splashed him again. - Jack Handey

I just didn't understand what the big deal was that someone painted his toenails.
For goodness sake, get over it.

I have to wonder whether his Dad put him down a lot while he was growing up.
Perhaps that's why he's so eager to defeat him.

    The toenail outburst was ridiculous.

Could be, Fluff. Telling his dad "You're such a liar!" was just not cool. But then he goes and says his dad is brilliant, so while he might not love his dad, there is respect there at some level.

I enjoyed Ringo's attempts to keep a straight face as he told Anthony that the painted nails just weren't that big a problem.

That's standard father-son stuff right there, Wayner. Resentment and respect mingled together inextricably.
