Looks like all the teams have moved up except NYST and Kodak.

And I wonder what happened to Bulafiji? Took a "shortcut"?

We have a new leader, as well.

Team Montrail/Parallax (from the USA) is in the lead!

Only MP and Spie (France) have made it past Checkpoint 5 at this time. Checkpoint 5 begins a new section of the course, which is defined as "whitewater kayaking, trekking, and fixed-rope climbing."

Mad River's past CP 3, and Skechers is still not to CP 3 yet.

    Current Standings:

    Leader: Montrail/Parallax (USA)

Mad River (Ethan & Jenna): 68th (no change)
Skechers WEP (Kelly): Tied for 75th (up one)

Kodak (Hayden Christiansen): Tied for 75th (up 3)
NYST (NY State Troopers): 71st (no change)
    Americas Airforce: 27th (no change)

All teams have now gone through checkpoint 3. 20 teams have made checkpoint 4, and 11 teams have made checkpoint 5 and moved on to the "whitewater kayaking, trekking, and fixed-rope climbing" portion of the race. Teams are now 2 days, 14 hours, 26 minutes into it.

All of the teams who are between checkpoints 3 and 4 are in a portion of Fiji known as "The Lost World", a dense jungle area which is uninhabited. For the 18-to-20 hours it takes to trek through this area (there's a shortcut, but it involves vertical descents along waterfalls), teams do not have access to food.

Are the top two teams from New Zealand in this one? Eco-Internet and Pure NZ? Their battle in the New Zealand race was incredible.
When you're ten years old and a car drives by and splashes a puddle of water all over you, it's hard to decide if you should go to school like that or try to go home and change and probably be late. So while he was trying to decide, I drove by and splashed him again. - Jack Handey

Eco-Internet is now GoLite/Balance Bar, and they were in 3rd place, but have now dropped back to around 10th. Pure NZ I haven't seen, but they may very well have changed names. I'll look for them next time I update the standings.

Race Update: Oct. 13 2:30 pm ET

Here are how some of our teams are doing:
    78 is currently last place
    1 team disqualified so far
2 teams unranked (not sure what that means... maybe they dropped out?)

Mad River (Ethan and Jenna): 68 (holding position)
Skechers (Kelly): 75 (a slight move up for them)

Americas Airforce (US air force): 27 (holding position)
NYST (NY State Troopers): 71 (holiding position)

    BulaFiji (all locals): disqualified
Kodak (Hayden Christensen): 75 (moved up)

Go-Lite/Balance Bar: 6 (last year known as EcoInternet)

PlayBoy (I'm only putting them in for John ): 59 (holding position)

Same standings as at 9:30am, when I posted them. Funny, no change.

Unranked does indeed mean they dropped out. If a team member has to quit, the team may continue with 3 people, but they are "unranked".

Yeah, I bet they are spread out so far now that the changes in position will be less and less as time goes on... unless of course someone makes a huge mistake...

Oops, I "fixed" Hayden's name, only to see that it's wrong. Darn it. Everyone is misspelling it on other boards, then.

Of course, everyone spells Kelly's last name with 2 G's, too, and that's wrong.
