Actress Cloris Leachman's storied career has been recognized with nine Emmys , a Golden Globe, and an Academy Award . She has the distinction of being the only woman to win eight Primetime Emmy Awards and one Daytime Emmy . Leachman has starred in a wide range of theater, television and motion picture projects, creating such indelible characters as Phyllis in the TV series Phyllis and The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Frau Blucher in Young Frankenstein, Nurse Diesel in High Anxiety, and Ruth Popper in The Last Picture Show (for which she won an Oscar and a BAFTA). In 2008 she has already completed three new films; The Women, American Cowslip and New York I Love You. She is in the process of writing her memoir and is currently touring the U.S. with her one-woman show CLORIS!

Corky Ballas - Mark's brother? - if so, I hope he is as fun. Should be good for laughs for a few weeks.

That's probably better - the age thing would have been a little weird.

And wasn't he also the coach of Derek/Julianne?

God bless her, but I still think this is pushing it. But I give her an E for effort and think even I am underestimating her. But I'm wondering if she'll get a lot of support from the younger generation.

I think this is ridiculous. Come on, she is 82 or 83, and she certainly can't be sexy in Latin dances. Not to mention, her body just won't be able to do the stuff required..

I think that they should have put someone more able in her place. I have nothing against her, I don't even know who she is, but I don't think she should be on the show.

IMO, she will be the female version of Jerry Springer/the guy from Cheers, John something.. and they were jokes.

I'm afraid I have to agree with TV Junkie that this was a really ridiculous casting choice. Was there really no one else who was interested in being on this season?

I don't think casting decisions should be based on whether or not a person will be "good for laughs" for a few weeks as anemone said. And I don't like the "aww, isn't she sweet and gutsy for even trying this" factor either.

This just makes no sense to me at all.

corky has his own web page. You can see him with cloris (little intro), he is still sooo much younger than she is they dont fit together.
