    Stars Hot To Trot

June 17, 2005 -- 'DANCING with the Stars" continues to waltz off with big numbers.

Wednesday's show, in which ex-boxer Evander Holyfield got the boot, averaged 15.7 million viewers (9-10 p.m.) to easily win the prime-time race, both in total viewers and adults 18-49.

Even a repeat of "Dancing," which aired from 8 to 9 p.m., managed to snare 8.1 million viewers an average audience for the summer viewing season.

The show helped ABC snare its best Wednesday-night, summertime audience since September 2000.

On the show, adapted from a British TV hit, celebrities are teamed with professional dancers to work on a ballroom dancing routine.

Each week, they're judged by a panel of pros and by viewers at home who vote to kick off one couple a week.

Holyfield's departure leaves Kelly Monaco, Rachel Hunter, Joey McIntyre and John O'Hurley as the remaining stars competing for the "Dancing with the Stars" crown.

The show has already spawned a copycat of sorts an upcoming show on Fox called "Skating with Celebrities," in which celebrities will be paired with ice-skating pros.
