When it came to the team dances, I thought last season was the best between the 3 in terms of the them having an equal share of strong couples and good choreographers on each side. Of course with tango and mambo there may be no contest, but Team Mambo did a really fun routine, while Team Tango got more of the steamy, technical side of their dance, while still making it enjoyable to watch. Plus Team Mambo had Melissa sitting out because that was the night of her injury. I had forgotten that they have 2 contestants be captains; I think it'd be better if the show divided them up because that right there can spell doom for a side. Look at team cha cha in season 7. And with that train wreck, Susan couldn't even be there for group rehearsals.Originally Posted by Bloomers;3742262;
It's interesting that this season and in season 7 one side was having issues even working together while the others acted like they were all lifelong BFFs who were taking on the poor amateurs.
Best statement made. I fall into the 18-29 age bracket, and I prefer the show to showcase strictly ballroom, could care less for any hip hop, prefer the older pros to the younger, and would much rather watch musical performances of the Bee Gees, Barry Manilow, and anyone who is not a Disney/tween star or that is a pro on the show and has their own band (stick to what you're good at, gents). They have SYTYCD and America's Best Dance Crew, and in the summer, America's Got Talent for people that want to watch a variety of dances from hip hop to ballroom to god only knows what else they show case on those shows. And correct me if I'm wrong, but DWTS beats them all in the ratings overall. So the show needs to stop copying shows that came after it and that appeal to a different audience, quit alienating its core group that made it successful, and get back to basics. Everything they've done to try and win that demo and make itself a younger, different version than what it was hasn't exactly done any good. Maks had hinted around during season 7 that apparently there were a lot of talks backstage between producers and, from what I got from him, people like CA that wanted to take the show in a different direction and expand it's horizons. He had said that the dancers on their show would fight tooth and nail before they let that happen.Give up on trying to get the young crowd and be happy for the big "older" viewership! So, do away with hip hop and other youngish type guest singers...and bring on the tappers, kids, and other classic singing stars that we all want to see!
Couldn't agree more. I doubt all the rappers, hip hop, etc., young audiance watch this type show. When the young singers (that couldn't carry a tune in a bucket) come on I mute it. If I have to mute too much I switch channels.
