Pool Results Show
The show opens with the Dancing With the Stars introductory music being played as each of the members of the pool descends the grand staircase to the stage to find out what order they finished in and who is taking home a trophy. KatesMom snags Maks and Val on her way down, having one on each arm to escort her to the stage, living up to her pool team name, Chmerkovskiy Sandwich, and enjoying every minute of it! There’s a little tussle over Maks when karalott throws her arms around him, squeals “I missed you, my bad boy!” and tries to bring him to her side onstage but Maks resolves the issue by giving karalott a hug, gesturing to KatesMom “Call me!” and disappearing backstage with Val.
Then the Lift Police arrive to haul Carrie-Ann away for questioning about inconsistent judging practices, Len is given his happy pills so his grumpiness doesn’t overshadow the occasion, and Bruno is confined to a straightjacket in his seat so he doesn’t stand up and smack Len in the face with his wild gesticulating during the proceedings.
Tom Bergeron cracks a few jokes at the judges’ expense and keeps everyone waiting for results using every trick in the book. First, he tells every pool member with a team name starting with an S to form a line. Then, he tells them to conga, and after all that he says none of them are either the winner or the lowest place team. He was just having some fun with them before getting down to business. After five commercial breaks, three guest singers, talks with former DWTS pools winners and losers, and upteen performances by the Macy’s Stars of Dance, Tom is ready to announce who won third place in the pool.
With 2,464 points, third place goes to…Paddle Pleasers!
Brooke rushes over to ask RickiRick how it feels to come in third, how it feels to be asked what it feels like to come in third, and how it feels to feel like you’ve been asked how you feel so many times you no longer know how you feel. RickiRick turns the tables on Brooke by asking her how she feels and that gets her so flummoxed she shuts up and goes backstage. RickiRick takes a bow as everyone applauds, then leaves the stage to finish playing a Tron app on his I-Phone as Tom prepares to announce the next winner.
In second place, with 2,481 points is…The Dream Catchers!
VAgirl79 claps her hands with glee and attempts to say a few words but is cut off by Tom, as he calls for a round of applause for Harold Wheeler and his orchestra. Tom has a tendency to upstage the real person deserving recognition by turning attention to the band. VAgirl frowns at the interruption but gets a few moments to give her thanks before being rushed off-stage so Tom can announce the big winner.
The team with the most points, and therefore the winner of the Season 16 pool is…Alive & Jivin’!
Debb70 smiles broadly and comes forward to accept her commemorative avatar while all of the pro dancers break out in a lively jive. Derek and Mark fight over which one of them gets to hoist Debb70 up on their shoulders and finally they split the difference and both lift her into their arms. It’s a good thing Carrie-Ann had to leave the building or Alive & Jivin’ might have gotten a last minute penalty for an illegal lift!
One last award is left and that’s the Wooden Leg Award for coming in dead last in the pool. Ilja’s Grinnin @er Pickins
made no secret that she had her eye on that award and sure enough she wins it, coming in a full 119 points below the next-to-last-place team, Irish Eyes Are Smilin’. Ilja whoops like she’s at a hootenanny and eagerly rushes forward to claim the booby prize. She gets an avatar that’s just as pretty as the first place winner’s avatar so who cares what the final scores are?
This one’s for you, Ilja!
Better luck next time…or not, if you want to go for last place again.
I hope everyone enjoyed participating in the pool! Final scores and rankings are below.
If you liked playing and want to try your luck again, the next pools will be for So You Think You Can Dance and MasterChef. And of course we’ll have a pool for the next season
of Dancing With the Stars.
