Didn't read it anywhere - just personal observation and opinion. I never saw anyone push their toe so far into the floor during a spin. Knowing how little respect Maks has for Carrie Ann's lack of ballroom training, I wouldn't be surprised if he warned Kirstie about CA being known as the "lift police."

What gets me is that Carrie Ann drops scores a point when there is an INADVERTENT lift, when a foot comes off the floor for just a second because lifts are not allowed in the waltz, but then doesn't ding Mark who PURPOSEFULLY put in moves that are not part of the waltz.

Why is everyone so worried about Kirstie leaving? She isn't going anywhere.

Bingo. My big issue with the judging panel as a whole. They make up the rules as they go along and seem to have their own set of rules based on whether they like the couple or not. I've always felt the choreography Lacey, Mark, and Derek come up with is more to CA's liking because she's not a traditional ballroom dancer. I get that illegal lifts are marked off in ballroom competitions. But Mark would have gotten laughed out of one and banned for life if he pulled either his non-jive or VW routine. I doubt she would have been as gushy to Maks if he did the same routine with Kirstie. On the contrary, she probably would have blasted him for not giving Kirstie enough to do. If Kirstie did in fact come out and say he shoe fell off because she was trying to prevent a lift, CA would probably come up with reasons to ding them because Kirstie would have made her look stupid. If they don't apply other rules to the couples and let Mark get away with his schtick, she shouldn't worry about lifts. Hopefully the twitterverse let her have it. I still can't believe they're getting the encore tonight Actually, I can believe it. I remember during season 9, Mark kept whining that he and Melissa were getting dinged on their scores. They did the charleston, got way overmarked, got the encore, and then it was back to scoring them low and giving them honest critiques. Hopefully that's the same thing here, though somehow I doubt it. Of all the couples, the one I want gone yesterday I don't even like thinking they're going to win.

Agreed. That's pretty much what I said several pages ago. If a lift is intentional, go ahead and penalize it. If it's an accident, don't. The pros have may have the control required to prevent a foot from coming off the floor briefly; the celebrities certainly do not.

Bristol was the daughter of somebody famous with no public identity of her own other than being the victim of tabloid headlines.

And in terms of what they both bring to the dance floor and the show, no matter what mistakes Kirstie makes, she handles it like a pro, and never forgets to be entertaining above all else. Bristol worked hard, and learned a lot, and had the perseverance to keep going week after week, but she never really grew out of her status as a deer-in-the-headlights victim of her mom's notoriety. She never got out of her own teenage head enough to learn what it means to be a performer.

Kirstie understands what the show is about, so for me it wouldn't be out of step if she ends up in the finals while better technical dancers go home before her. She is no charity case, and she doesn't want anyone's pity.

Yes. Remember how well Marie Osmond did? I thought she came a long way and her fans loved her and kept her in there for a long time. I think she was actually in the finals. Kirstie is a better dancer than Marie was, but they are similar in some ways.

I totally agree with you. I knew this hastily written post would bite me in the ass! If I could delete it I would! I adore Kirsty and want to see her in the finals!

Marie came in third her season, so yes, she made it to the final.
