You certainly know better than I do, but I am under the impression that the disciplines are quite different, although being skilled in one will certainly give you a big advantage in learning another one. It was just a small nitpick. I'm sorry that you seem to have taken offense.
He has years of ballroom dance experience. Based on both her resume (now taken offline) plus the fact that she has not had any problem with one single thing, I have to agree with him on his assessment of Mya.

I think that she might have been better cast on So You Think You Can Dance where they all dance with the same ability that she has although many of them have not yet accrued the professional credits on their resumes that she has.

I am well aware of Peacheater's credentials and that's why I stated that he certainly knows better than I do about ballroom dancing.

I agree that Mya's dance background (minus the fact that she is already famous) would suit the cast of SYTYCD better, as I understand that the dancers on that show tend to specialize in one genre and are expected to "cross over" and attempt other styles of dance. I believe 3 of our pros, Chelsie, Dmitry and Lacey came from here. Correct me if I'm wrong, but were they not each specialists in some form of ballroom dance prior to being on SYTYCD? Would DWTS ever take a jazz or hip hop specialist from SYTYCD who had learned some ballroom on the show and offer them a role as one of their pros?

Mya has never been a pro ballroom dancer. Compare her to Michael Jackson or Paula Abdul please.
Now I think you're being silly. Do you not think Michael Jackson could have come on this show and danced CIRCLES around all of the other contestants?
But..but.... he wasn't trained in ballroom!

Mya has been professionally trained, has taught, and has choreographed many different disciplines of dance.. including African dance, hiphop, ballet, tap, etc..., ALL of which you have seen incorporated into her dances. This week's three dances were a PERFECT example of her using her excessive skill and training. And do you not think that 17+ years of ballet help with the waltz? C'mon.... you're picking nits.

Quick post: loved seeing Mel(issa) perform again. I don't know if she had physical reasons for such a short dance or not, but she's probably plenty busy with NY (GMA) and her wedding coming up next month. So she probably didn't have much time to rehearse with Tony and the other pros for this show. I didn't even notice that she was dancing barefoot, but I think it would be hard to keep feet clean while dancing barefoot on a floor traversed by many other people wearing shoes (duh!).

Tony back again . I got my wish for a rehearsal segment with Mel and him, but it was waaaaaaaaaay too short.

Leona Lewis: hated the song but she does have some pipes. It's just that I'm not a fan of the "Mariah Carey" style of singing, which Leona seems to favor. Even though Leona wore a similar style of dress (ugly and unflattering) to the one that she wore at the Bejing Olypmics, she seems to have lost some weight since then. She was slammed by some for having big legs then.

The Bee Gees were disappointing. I like some of their music, but not that song. I'm not a fan of most falsetto voices, but love Barry's deep voice. He seemed diminished, and not like his usual powerful self at all. It was sad not to see Maurice (RIP) with them.

I know there are a lot of people on this board who were disappointed to see Joanna go home.
She and Derek were on the View and it was not at all graceful, smooth or fluid. She also teetered more than once and there was no long costume there that could have hindered her.
Some have compared her to Mya. I think Mya, with the background she has, is in a league of her own.
And, sorry, but I don't think Joanna would have faced off at all well to Mya in the final.

I agree with this, although I see Ironcat's point and respect her comments.
And thank you Peacheater for the kind vote of confidence. I respect you too.
It seems that most of us are agreeing to the same thing: having Mya on the show is a scam, and we don't like it. She has redefined the term "ringer." We just come at it in different ways.
My take is a little different:
    1. I don't care for her as a person. The batting of the eyes, the utter lack of any real personality, treating her partner like a prop, it all leaves me cold. In my eyes, she has also redefined the term "boring."
    2. Perhaps influenced by no. 1, I just don't think her dancing is that great. Can she do the steps accurately? Sure, big surprise. Do I feel anything special when she dances? Not at all.
When I watch Kelly, I see an awkward child struggling to be a lady...then I see the spirit in her 1000 megawatt smile and it melts me.
When I watch Donny, I see a guy who doesn't know the word "quit." A teen sensation, later ridiculed as a joke, a cheeseball, he is still the same guy. A family man, an entertainer, and very sincere in everything he does. If you haven't seen him interviewed away from all of this, please do. I promise it will change your mind.
It seems pretty certain that Kelly will be the next to drop out. Then we'll have the same battle as every year - fan favorite or judges choice?
Ultimately, the judges control the outcome but no matter who wins, this will be the least popular winner ever.

Your comparison was flawed. If you had tried to say that Kelly was pulling all of the youth vote (as I believe sdl did..) then I wouldn't have objected to your comparison.

WHAT? Why not? Why would everyone else on the show get a block voting group but not Mya? That makes absolutely zero sense.

A quick glance at a number of different websites and message boards would clearly tell you that you are absolutely incorrect. There is a HUGE outcry out there that Laila Ali, Mel B, and Lil Kim got "screwed" because they are black.. and there is blatant determination to right that alleged wrong.

First I didn't say everyone else was getting block voting. I said of all the people that would get a block voting Mya would not be on the top of the list. Kelly would most likely get block voters than Mya.

You miss the point about Kelly weight. What she is doing now is irrelevant. What you think about her size is irrelevant. In most of the world she be a little overweight. Believe me in most of the world a slightly above 5 foot girl at around 140 is slightly over weight. That is irrelevant though. The reality is who identifies with Kelly. I doubt the overweight masses of America were identifying with Joanna. I doubt they voting for Mya in masses. If we talking demographics no question in my mind Kelly gets votes from many of the women that can identify with her weight struggles. No question by far more than any of the other contestants.

sdl--I agree with you, especially on #1, she doesn't have a winning personality in my book. She acts like Dimetry should be her servant or something.
You are spot on in these assessments!

How exactly dancing on the view equal to what we been seeing. I think Joanna was second in scoring during the year. Very close on Monday to having a bunch of 10s instead of 9s. How she danced on a talk show when no one cares or votes is kind of irrelevant.

Plus Derek is a great choreographer. He can design dances that can really blow you away. The future dance was as good as any dance this year. The only one capable of scoring with Mya was them.

The only way Mya doesn't win is if its a popularity contest. If thats the case then Kelly probably wins. Nobody on this show has a shot at putting up better scores than Mya. Seriously Mya is at the point she could get a 10 every time. She rarely makes a mistake. I fully expect Monday Mya to be getting lots of 10s and Kelly and Donny getting lots of 8 and 9s.
