Wynonna appears to be overly corsetted and spanxed making her core very stiff. Being so top heavy thows her center of gravity off. She just seems to walk through her dances and, to me, is painful to watch. In addition, her makeup is dreadful especially her lipstick. It makes her look like she is sneering. Her fans would be doing her a favor not to vote for her.

While I luv gymnastics and anyone who does it especially on an international scale is incredibly talented, brave and has a very hard work ethic, one thing I have noticed it that these girls have no personality. They are so stiff and it feels uncomfortable listening to them talk as if they have been so conditioned by their PR people they don't want to give any kind of opinion. I also think that since they have concentrated on their field of endeavor for so long that they lack life experience and come across as sheltered girls of 11 and 12 when in fact they are 17, 18 years old. These gymnasts perform in front of millions of people yet I feel they don't know how to emote at all. What surprised me was when Aly Raisman said she didn't know that music had counts. She does dance exercise to music how can she know so little about how to put movement to music? Zendaya is only 16 years old, a dancer, a performer and yet she comes across as very real, natural and as part of the Disney family she also works hard and long hours and has to watch how she acts and behaves and yet she has a personality I just wish the gymnasts that appear on DWTS also did.

I agree! Gymnastics just calls for a whole different demeanor and these girls have been at it so long it's their go to. I had not thought of it in those terms before. You said it well.

I guess theoretically both could happen. Someone could slam the brakes to take a better look, causing several cars to pile up behind him/her, and that would cause the traffic to come to a standstill.

Costumes. At one point the outfits were getting so skimpy that it was getting to be a bit like porn watching this show. I am very glad several seasons ago the producers changed directions or costume designers and the dancers as well as guests started to cover up more, as a side benefit to that I think the dancers and contestants look even sexier when they are covered up a bit more and I think the costumes are even more imaginative.

I really watched her tonight and she looks directly ahead, never really at Tony, or the audience, or the judges, and only her legs and arms move and she never smiles either. I know she is a singer, but most singers who have had the career that she has and have toured as much as she has should at least have some kind-of performer in her. It's like she gets on the dance floor and turns to stone. And Lordy, was that dress fugly!! Wow.

And I just had to mention that I can't believe it wasn't pointed out the pretty amazing stunt Derek pulled off at the beginning of their dance. Did he actually do a heel slide all the way down from the top of the staircase?! I watched it in slomo and I believe he did- it almost looked like he was going to lose it at the end, but he pulled it off. I'm not really a Derek cheerleader, but I must say that move did impress me.

Regarding Aly and how she is being dressed...I've noticed she has gained a little in the waist (which is probably normal after all the gymnastics is over) and I think they are trying to hide it under all these weird things they are dressing her in. She's still a tiny thing- I wish they would put her in something more 'fun' and age appropriate.
    Yep.

Wy kinda tanked, and the outfit DEFINITELY did her no favors.

Frankly, I still think she's scared crapless. Dancing in front of a crowd of people is a WHOLE 'nother ballgame from singing in front of them, I think. After the year she's had, I truly believe that she gave this a go just to be able to spread her wings and do something else for herself, for a change. But, personally, I think she's terrified every time she hits the floor for a dance performance because she's performing in a totally different way from what she's used to doing as a singer. And ringer or not, DWTS is NO JOKE.

It's great that she's got such a warm, supportive partner in Tony.

    Derek?

What can anybody say? That entrance WAS amazing, and it's something that I'd expect him to think of, AND pull off.

    Aly's costumes?

    Hmmm.

Like at least a couple of you have pointed out (IIRC), her figure HAS changed from when she was in the Olympics. To me --- from what I can tell through all that fabric --- her waist HAS gotten a little thicker. And she SURE looks like she's packing more up top now than when she was doing floor exercises, etc., in London.

Also, crazy as this might sound, I have to wonder if somebody put the word in with TPTB that her costumes were NOT to skew towards anything too sexy, too OLDER adult? I know that sounds like I've gone around the bend between the ears, given that the girl was wearing a more-than-skintight leotard when she did her thing at The Big O with the rest of The Five. But, look at the stuff they've been putting her in since she started this show. That outfit with the loooooong fringe on it was ridiculous. I don't ever recall seeing fringe THAT long on any fringed costume on this show. OR off it, for that matter, on ANY ballroom dancing I've watched that had a fringed costume in it. And all that fabric on her outfit from last week AND this one, too?

    Please.

I dunno, maybe her parents said something to TPTB about keeping her modest and covered-up as much as possible (even though she's 18)? Or maybe it was Aly, herself? Or maybe Mark, after consulting with Aly? Again, I dunno. But that girl --- changed figure, or not --- is too YOUNG to be coming out and dancing in boxy shrouds and long fringe every week. No, she doesn't have to pull an Edyta (even if she DID have dear Edyta's body!). But, even as new as she is at dancing (AND given the fact that she wore those pretty-much-painted-on leotards in London), and the fact that she's not exactly in Cloris' age bracket, I'm SMH trying to understand just WHY she's being put in such depressing clothing each week that does absolutely NOTHING for her.

    Wy is ONE thing.

    But ALY?

I'm sorry, try as I might, I'm not gettin' it.

As for Aly's outfits, I remember from week one the dress that showed so much cleavage that I was surprised she wore it as it didn't seem age appropriate but I did note that she has developed an incredible chest.

Wow, Wynona just can't move her torso that was just sad.

I would keep DL over Wynona because I think he at least works hard, tires hard and wants to improve. Wynona is just there. I think she has a lot of issues with her body or her body is just a symptom of her issues.

I was hoping for a minute there that Wynonna was going to improve when I saw her in the outtakes. She seemed to actually move some in them so I was disappointed in her when she was so stiff in the actual performance. I do think she must be scared for there to be that much difference.

Jacoby blew me away. I have not exactly been one of his biggest fans (there is something about his personality that bugs me) but he did wonderful in his performance last night. I thought his was the best dance of the night.

Zendaya was much more lovely than I expected for that style of dance. I could tell it was harder for her than her previous dances which to me is a good thing because that means she has room for improvement.

Val is surprising me with his talent and maturity this year. Zendaya is bringing out the gentleman in Val and I for one am quite enjoying this side of him.

I didn't see the whole scene with DL but what I did catch made him look like a jerk once again. There is a part of me that understands as I can act like a jerk at times but there is the other part of me that just cringes because he is doing this on national TV and you can't hit the undo button there.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Sean's dance last night. Prior to his dance, I was thinking there is someone on the show that must really hate him because of all of the humiliating things that have been utilized for his dances. I mean who really wants to dance to YMCA for a dance competition? And yet, I could see improvement in Sean's dance abilities and his likability can't be denied.

I am feeling sorry for Aly and her mumu dresses. I too cringed at that one dress she wore that showed too much of the ladies but surely someone can find her something that makes her look pretty because she is a pretty girl and her body is not bad.
